My wife and I used the extended weekend from 29.10.2016 to 01.11.2016 for traveling together to the Elbflorenz Dresden. Because we liked the short trip very much, we decided to write this blog. We would be very pleased if we could awaken your interest in this beautiful city on the river Elbe.

Traveling with the Deutsche (Adventure) Bahn

For a relaxed journey we decided to take the Deutsche Bahn from Würzburg to Dresden. But it should turn out, that this was not a good decision.

The ICE train from Fulda to Würzburg was unfortunately late for about 20 minutes, so we didn't reached our connecting train in Fulda. After an hour of additional waiting time we were able to continue our journey by taking the next ICE train to Dresden via Leipzig. But this was only the beginning of the adventure, because in Eisenach our route was blocked due to an incident and the ICE was redirected.

There was a free drink per person to "ease the masses";-)

With detours and additional breaks we arrived 120 minutes late at our unplanned intermediate stop Leipzig.

After a short wait we continued our journey using an IC train to Dresden. Instead of arriving around 11:30 we arrived late at 14:30 in Dresden, but in the end we still managed it :-)
