Djerba - historic island

Djerba or Jerba has been a part of Tunisia since the 16th century and is a popular tourist destination. The Roman have been there in the 2nd-century BCE and built a trading post on the island. The Arabs conquered the island for the first time in 655 CE. In the following centuries the Berbers, Sicilians as well as the Spanish controlled the Island.
