Located in Bengkulu, on the shores of Tapak Paderi Beach, the Marlborough Fort is an ancient building of British colonial heritage.

According to a guide who guides us, this Fortress has its back to the Indian Ocean and was established on an artificial hill overlooking the city of Bengkulu.

Fort Marlborough located in the city of Bengkulu, Bengkulu Province is the largest bastion of Asian relics of the British Government at the time of colonization in the 18th century. The fort was originally functioning as a defense. But over time, this building then changed the function into a trading center.

Fort Marlborough has a very strong appeal because the design is still original 17th-century design, with no significant renovation.

According to some sources, the Fort was founded by the East India Company (EIC) between 1714-1719 under the leadership of the governor Joseph Callet. The fort was built as a British fortress.

It can be said, this fortress is the strongest stronghold of England in the East after the fortress of St. George in Madras, India. The fort is built on a hill overlooking the city of Bengkulu, and backs the Indian Ocean.
