Here is my entry for this week's Trial By Comics! The theme this week was Stranger Things, a wonderful hit show from Netflix. Full details of the prior competition as well as the announcement of this current contest can be found in the original post here, as always hosted by the incredibly talented @kommienezuspadt. The Trial By Comics community also has its own Discord chat now, again courtesy of @kommienezuspadt. Details on that can be found here.
My entry! Let's call it "Dustin's Dance" by Bryan "the Imp" Imhoff.

Although it's tempting to illustrate some of the horrors battled in Stranger Things, the kids are the heart of the show, none more so than Dustin! (That kid is awesome!) So I took a swing at a little montage of one of the feel good moments of the year, Dustin and Nancy at the dance.
This was the most I've done with the new Clip Studio Paint app for iOS. I raved about it when it first launched a short time ago. Just like on the desktop program, I absolutely love the ink tools it has - best in the business hands down! So this piece provided me practice with the app on an iPad Pro, getting a feel for the pressure sensitivity with the Apple Pencil in this particular toolset. I got more into the groove as it progressed. Speaking of groove, I pretty much just looped the Stranger Things soundtrack as I worked... probably about 5 go rounds with a bunch of repeats of Peter Gabriel's version of "Heroes." The soundtrack is a bevy of 80's musical goodness. Highly recommended.
Musical Interlude!
I did have a go at applying some comic style colors, but being a colorist or digital painter is not my strong suit, it's something I need to study more. They weren't turning out well so I decided to just leave them off for now and let those bee-you-ti-full Clip Studio Paint "G-Pen" lines speak for themselves. Hopefully I'll show the colored version in the future when I've tackled it better. But, here's a few work in progress screen captures to take the place of the colors. Hope you enjoy!

As always, the Trial by Comics turnout and talent of the participants is nothing short of amazing! I'd swear Trial by Comics must be tapping into a portal to the Upside Down. I'm anxious to see what'll be unleashed next! (in both the next Trial.. and the next season of Stranger Things...)
