Yesterday I turned one year older.
I'm finding out, in my life, that birthdays are not as fun as they use to be. Hmmm, that is not quite true.
I'm finding out that I'm not as excited about my birthdays like I use to be. Years ago, about a month before my birthday, there was not a soul I didn't tell that my birthday was almost here.
Now I didn't tell this to people because I wanted presents or a party because I knew financially those things were just not going to happen. My birthday was a day I just loved to celebrate.
Back then waking up, knowing today was The Day!, would put a HUGE smile on my face.
I'm not sure why. Nothing much in my memory really stands out as it being an outstanding day from any other.
It just was my Birthday!!! and I felt everyone should know that this wonderful day was coming soon!!

Then a few years ago, I stopped caring. I don't know why. I just did. I took the notices off of Facebook so no one was reminded of the day and I was happy with that. It wasn't a sad thing to me. It just felt right and still does but I don't know why.
Which brings me to this years birthday. Yesterday.

Yesterday morning, my husband and I got up at the same time. Neither one of us, now, are morning people. He turned to me in the kitchen, eyes mostly closed, his bowl of oatmeal in hand, already cooked, and said, "Do you want me to make you some french toast?"
He makes the BEST French toast! Just so you know.
It touched my heart while I was sitting up still sleeping that he would even ask. I told him that I wasn't hungry yet. Why didn't he go eat his oatmeal first and when he was done with that I might be hungry. He looked very relieved but tried very hard not to show it, walking off with his oatmeal in hand.
When he was done, sure enough, he remembered and asked again. This time I said "Yes!" and had my favorite breakfast to start the day I just wanted to forget.

I then opened the internet. Everywhere I went @simgirl had left me a message wishing me a 'Happy Birthday!'. It was so sweet! It made me tear up. Another beautiful way to start the day I just wanted to forget.
I then had a meeting to go to Yesterday. A lot got done and many 'Happy Birthday's' was said in a meeting that didn't have time for chit-chat. It made me smile while I tried to stay on track.

Next came the call from my Mom, which is always full of her singing the Happy Birthday song. She just makes me smile.
Then my Father in Law finally called when I could get to the phone before he hung up! and chatted......well, listened to him chat because he lives alone. He always makes me smile and all I had to say was "ah huh!"
Then Hubby went out to watch the BIG GAME and as I have been so tired I stayed home.

I was enjoying the peace and quiet when @brisby showed up on Discord chat. That girl has a heart of gold and didn't want me to be alone on the day I wanted to forget.
She got on Discord voice with me. We proceeded to chat about everything, laughing all the way. Out of the blue @wandrnrose7 showed and joined us in our chat. It was so wonderful to just relax getting to know people you only have talked with through comments.
This now being the seventh special present I got on a day I wanted to forget.
From there real life intervened and @brisby and @wandrnrose7 had to go.
I went to read a few things on Steemit.

The first thing I came across was a post resteemed by @ mariannewest STEEMIT STAR Awards. In this post @japhofin8or was a very sweet and smart man by nominating and giving his STEEMIT STAR award to @mariannewest. He makes these really cool 3-D awards for the people that win!!! Congratulations @mariannewest!!!
Now, way on the bottom of @japhofin8or post he also had a Bitmoji avatar.

I have seen others use Bitmoji's to make whole posts. Some people use them for comments. I always thought they were very cool but did I really want to try and learn a new App? Apps and I are not always the best of friends because they never come with any kind of directions! But it was my birthday and I was bored a bit so thought it time to see what it was........

How to set up Bitmoji (for old-ish people)

You will need a Smartphone or tablet.
Go to the app store of your choice, I use google play.
search for Bitmoji.
Download it to your device.

It will walk you through making your avatar. If you are anything like me you will skip that part thinking you can do it later.
Once you have skipped over the step of making your avatar, you will be shown photo's of a beautiful Indian woman next to all the cool graphics.
Realizing you are not from India and cannot use any of the new very cool graphic's, hit your devices back button until you get to the main page once again.
Back on the main page click on the little guy with a pencil by it. This will take you to the edit avatar mode.

The App will then ask you if you want to take a selfie so you can get your avatar as close as possible to what you think you look like and place the teeny tiny selfie on your screen.
A screen where you can pick out what type of hair you think looks like yours should then pop up. It could be pick your nose page also but I think you get the idea.

Next, put your reading glasses on.
Looking down at the bottom of your screen you will see teeny teeny tiny icons at the bottom.
Use those icons to make your avatar. Picking out body size, hair color and so on.

Once you are done making your avatar, you finally get to pick out an outfit!!
My recommendation to Bitmoji is to please at least let us change the color of the outfits. I'm not even going to get into the choices of outfits............

After all your work is done making the new You, one of two things will now happen.
You Love your avatar and go on Steemit and paste it all over all your friend's posts to show off what you just learned how to do.
You realize your new 'mini-me' looks nothing like you. You call your son in South American, pulling out the "I'm your Mom and it's my birthday" card, make him sign in to your Bitmoji account, fix your avatar so it finally looks like you or so he says, and you believe him because you just want to play with your new toy.

How to use Bitmoji on Steemit

You will need to use Chrome as your browser.
Go to https://www.bitmoji.com/
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Chrome icon

You will now see a page like the photo below open up.
click on the green add to chrome button.

Close your chrome browser.
Open your chrome browser back up.
You now will see a tiny Bitmoji icon added to your browser.
Click the icon and a box will open with all kinds of cool graphic's with your avatar in them.

From this window you will be able to search for topics you want to use a Bitmoji for.
Here I was searching for a Thank You photo to use in a comment on Steemit.
Right-click on the image you want to use.
Scroll down and Copy Image

Paste the link you just copied into the comment section or into your own post.
Personally, I would also leave a written comment along with the Bitmoji photo. I just feel that would be the polite thing to do. I could be wrong but it is how I feel about it so thought I would share that little tidbit.
Hit the post button and you just Bitmojied your friend!

- You now Love your avatar and go on Steemit and paste it all over all your friend's posts to show off what you just made and learned!!!

In conclusion, for a day I just wanted to forget, I had the best day ever!!!
Thank You to all my Steemit friends for making it as special as it was!
Thank You to my son @ecoinstant and daughter in law @ecoinstante for spending time with me so I could see both of your happy faces!!! You both made my day that much more special!
I also hope that this tutorial helps someone find a few laughs and giggles while using your new Bitmoji avatar!
