Hello! We have taken advantage of a slow down in out booking in our B&B and closed for a few days and gone on a short break. Just two hours away from us is a lovely town in the Cantal called Murat. We've driven past it a few times, but never had the time to stop. So I decided to book four nights here.
This video I shot this morning, Basil (ginger dog) and Minty (black dog) are disturbing the peace and quiet on the top of a windy Rocher Bonnevie which over looks the town. The statue is Mary holding Jesus (he is quite a large toddler in this statue) and was put there in 1878. The town is on a traditional pilgrimage route to Jerusalem.
This photo (below) was taken this morning. It looks very moody, but didn't feel that way!
This picture I took on the first evening.
This is en route up to the Rocher. love the old painted signs!
Church and café in the town
More pictures of the town. The roof tops here are amazing. Some of the roof tiles are slate, but a lot of them (traditionally in this part of the Cantal) are thick slices of rock (over an inch thick). It gives the impression the roof is made of dragon skin!
A rather fabulous gothic gate!
Somewhere to tie up your horse!
And a fantastic door knocker!
Have a lovely day!
