"The dreams and the nightmares are made of the same materials", are words of the great writer Eduardo Galeano that and I believe at face value. Our brain is so complex that it reproduces dreams and nightmares in people, without distinction of creed, race or age. We all dream daily, although we do not remember it and, from time to time: some more, some less, we also have nightmares. The image of this photograph belongs to a mural that encompasses one of the exterior walls of the School of Visual Arts and that I associate with that cluster of disconnected things that often swirl in thought when control of time and space is lost. Or maybe with a chaotic dream about to become a nightmare.

"Los sueños y las pesadillas están hechos de los mismos materiales", son palabras del gran escritor Eduardo Galeano y yo creo a pie juntillas. Nuestro cerebro es tan complejo que reproduce sueños y pesadillas en las personas, sin distinción de credo, raza o edad. Todos soñamos a diario, aunque no lo recordamos y, de vez en cuando: unos más, unos menos, también tenemos pesadillas. La imagen de esta fotografía pertenece a un mural que abarca una de las paredes del exterior de La Escuela de Artes Visuales elaboradas por el pintor cumanés: Ramaco y que yo asocio con ese cúmulo de cosas inconexas que muchas veces se arremolinan en el pensamiento cuando se pierde control de tiempo y espacio. O tal vez con un sueño caótico a punto de convertirse en pesadilla.

However, there are moments when the artist's psyche is so interpenetrated with his work that the result is plastic poetry, language in movement and everything that speaks loudly in his thought stands out, as in this other mural where love emerges for its land, the projection of what abounds in it, the improvement of what is produced, what sells, what it promotes, what is more: sea, sun and fishing. This pictorial sample reveals the abundance and variety of fish that our Caribbean Sea has and, more specifically, our Gulf of Cariaco.

No obstante, hay ocasiones en que la psique del artista se compenetra tanto con su obra que el resultado es poesía plástica, lenguaje en movimiento y sobresale todo lo que habla alto en su pensamiento, como en este otro mural donde aflora el amor por su tierra, la proyección de lo que abunda en ella, el realce de lo que se produce, lo que vende, lo que promueve, lo que hay de más: mar, sol y pesca. Esta muestra pictórica revela la abundancia y variedad de peces que tiene nuestro Mar Caribe y, más específicamente, nuestro Golfo de Cariaco.

It is also common for passions, hobbies and tastes to emerge in creative work. And, as I understand from conversations with the wife of the painter, who is an art teacher and my work colleague, the artist is a "gallero" (person who raises and plays fighting cocks) and this passion is reflected in many of his works , as is the case with the next mural, that recreates a challenge of roosters that, in turn, is an allegory of the confrontation between the currencies "dollar" versus "bolivar", which in these times, is a sure loss for the bolivar, absolutely devalued.

También es común que las pasiones, las aficiones y los gustos emerjan en el trabajo creativo. Y, según tengo entendido por conversaciones con la esposa del pintor, quien es profesora de Arte y mi compañera de trabajo, el artista es "gallero" (persona que cría y juega gallos de pelea) y esta pasión se refleja en muchas de sus obras, como es el caso del siguiente mural que recrea un desafío de gallos que, a su vez, es una alegoría del enfrentamiento entre las monedas "dólar" versus "bolívar", lo cual en estos tiempos, es una pérdida segura para el bolívar, absolutamente devaluado.
