Planes, especially Stanley planes. Always look for low numbers stamped on the metal (for example 1 through 10) And wooden handles. When you list the plane, specify the country it was made in, this is important to collectors. Today I listed these vintage hand saws for an average starting price of R200/$14 each. I received a bid on the top one immediately. I generally offer my items for auction over a one week period. I've experimented with shorter and longer times, but a week seems to work best.
All the items above are tools that I have already sold online, or currently have listed online. There are obviously many other items in a garage that can be worth some money. If you need any advice I will be happy to help! On a side note, we have found that boxes stored away in garages can often contain amazing treasures. We once found a gold Kruger coin in the bottom of a box of assorted garage items that we obtained on an auction! We have also found military medals and collectible knives in what looks like boxes of rubbish. Happy exploring!
