Write Club Prompt Week 4

By RyanHickoxPhotography

As a fourteen year I was intrepid enough to wade into the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I read a few chapters of One Hundred years of solitude and was left scratching my head.

"Why is this book such a classic?" It read like a soap opera. But there was one element that I enjoyed. The descriptions were beyond exceptional.

Now that I have grown up, and started writing poetry, the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of giving a prompt for Write Club was - Magical Realism

** a literary genre or style associated especially with Latin America that incorporates fantastic or mythical elements into otherwise realistic fiction. — called also magical realism. **

Here's an example: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1976/09/27/the-autumn-of-the-patriarch

Write a story that celebrates reality with an imagery that is beguiling and has a magical quality to it.
