Heads up Steemians!
I will now start a personal initiative for Cebu. I had introduced this during the first and second open discussion on discord and I am now launching this here. I am not sure of the mechanism as to how we should go about this, so everything will start from scratch. Everything will be evaluated to determine which activities will work and which will fail. I think that an activity like this would stimulate every participant to rethink about their contents and aim for quality more than quantity.
The name itself was suggested by @morken when we talked about this. This is actually in conjunction with his future plans for Cebu. One of his plans is to have a weekly meet ups for small groups only, aside from the usual big events for the Cebu community. The name Cebu Writers' Guild is just a crude representation of what this initiative should be. We might change it in the future, but for now, let's just stick with that one because I can't think of any other cool names.
I believe that this initiative is the first of its kind in Cebu. Inviting people to Steemit is the first phase, but many people have stopped there. Some mentored their friends and colleagues, but even those who mentored lacked the necessary and full information to satisfy the needs of the newbies. This initiative has the following attributes:
- In accordance with Steem Summit's motto which is "Steemit in real life.", this initiative serves as a physical interaction between Cebuano steemians. The Open Discussion every Saturday on Teenvestors Discord Channel is a great and interactive hangout, but it's always a different experience to have physical meet ups.
- This initiative will serve as room for everyone to grow and improve their personal blog pages. Different topics will be discussed every session, so it will be assured that everyone can learn something.
- This is an avenue to pick potential and rising leaders. There will be facilitators every discussion. For a start, I will be the facilitator, but depending on the need and expertise of the participants, everyone has a chance to facilitate the session. I want this initiative to be independent and can still proceed even without my presence.
I am also regarding this initiative as social experiment. The reason why I'm calling this as such is because everything is fluid. There's no rigid structure and rules to follow. Due to its fluidity and flexibility, without regard of hierarchy, everyone has the chance to shine. This will highlight pure talent and passion, without much political tint. This social experiment will have the following facets:
- It will distinguish those who really wanted to hone their craft and pursue their truest passions from those who just jumped into the bandwagon train and joined just because anyone can earn.
- There are a lot of tools that can track our progress here. It will be best to allocate some time for us to assess ourselves and motivate everyone to maintain what has been started.
- Since this is also a social interaction, we can observe how everyone behaves in an intimate environment, without any regard of reputation or amount of SP.
Who Are Eligible to Join?
There's no restriction as who are eligible to join. Newbies and seasoned steemians alike are welcomed in one setting. There will be no categorization and separation. Interactions are expected to be holistic.
Take note that no one is obliged to attend. This is more on personal decisions. Only those who are willing to learn are expected to be there. No commitments. Even if no one will come, I will still be at the announced venue and designated time. I will be there; writing, reading, and learning more about anything I'm interested in.
