Good Afternoon! Here is another entry into the #Zapfic Writing Contest by @felt.buzz. The main rule is keep it short, 240 characters or less. The prompt for this short fiction was Fold.
So I ended up writing one and sitting on it for a minute and then writing another one. Completely unrelated. I hope this does not see me getting disqualified and I hope that you, the reader, enjoy both of the stories!
Last Majesty
The dial on my wrist clicked.
The fold in time resolved and I stood face to face with my father, younger now than myself.
Startled, he dropped the rifle.
Echoing through the forest, the last of the Elkin fled.
Sins absolved, we wept.
Echoes End
The mobile hung motionless as the mothers tears rolled down her cheeks.
She folded the tiny blanket and placed it in the stained crib, never to be slept in again.
She boarded up the windows, said her prayers and turned out the lights.
I’m not sure why really, but I have tears in both of these stories. I also had tears in my last story……. This was also done on my phone, there may be format edits later!
