We were willing to get the amount they were asking us for the operation which was a very large sum, it was $23,500 for the operation without including additional medicines for the recovery, after much thought, we decided to sell our house, our car and also our party and events business, all to get the amount we needed, with that we got a part for the operation and we still needed half or something like that I do not remember well.

The months went by and since we did not have the money, we began to try other alternatives suggested by the doctors to try to calm the pain, we tried neural therapies, physical therapies, medications of all kinds and nothing lessened the pain, and the worst was yet to come, because despite the injury and the pain my husband could still walk with difficulty but he did, he tried to live a normal life.

The months went by and the neurosurgeon said that these treatments were helping him, that we needed to operate and that the problem was solved. But to tell the truth, my husband was getting worse day by day, practically his ability to walk was decreasing, to the point of no longer being able to stand up, and when he does, the screams of pain and desperation is what he heard.

We reached a point in which practically every day we had to go to the emergency room of the hospital in the city of Cumaná, Sucre State, Venezuela, the city where we live, because my husband could not stand the pain. It is worth mentioning that in every visit to the emergency room we informed the neurosurgeon and he said that he should continue with the therapy and treatment because he would get better while he was undergoing surgery.

I can not imagine how hard it was and is to see my husband screaming in pain and that whatever I do nothing calms him, and more distressing is to hear the doctor say that everything was fine, that only needed therapy and surgery, therapy which I felt that nothing was helping, so my husband and I decided to stop them and seek new alternatives, was how searching the internet I found a review of a pioneer neurosurgeon in minimally invasive surgery which was listed as one of the best neurosurgeons in Latin America, And we have him here in our country, in the city of Caracas, I immediately got going and wrote to the doctor, I sent him the reports, everything I had, thinking that it would take many days and maybe even months for him to read it, in case he did since we knew how difficult it is to get an appointment with this doctor, but to my surprise the next day, I received an answer, the doctor scheduled an appointment to see my husband since he thought it was a very interesting case to treat.

We did not think twice and with the few savings we had left we went to the city of Caracas-Venezuela, when we arrived they sent us to make new studies to my husband which ended almost all of our economic resources, because for those who do not know this clinic is one of the most expensive in the country, but believe me it is worth every penny you spend there, because the treatment is very different, since we arrived they made us feel that we were human beings.

When the doctor reviews the results of the studies performed and hears everything that was done to my husband here in Cumaná, he is horrified, he could not believe how a neurosurgeon with such a severe injury to my husband's spine put him in therapy, and how he applied the different treatments that only made the injury worse, making it bigger and much more dangerous, since the bone marrow is almost compromised, in addition to the damage caused to the vertebrae, most of which are completely damaged.

Well swindled, because these treatments were very expensive, the doctor indicated surgery as soon as possible, he strictly forbade her to walk so as not to enlarge the injury even more, on the one hand we were happy because we finally had a real diagnosis, one with which we agreed, but on the other hand we were invaded again by terror, and we were not so far from feeling that, because when we saw the costs of the operation and prosthesis because now due to the injury there must be two, these costs almost gave me a heart attack.

The sum, nothing more and nothing less than the operation 27.896$ and the prosthesis 6600$, not counting the preoperative studies that together give a total of 500$ more, in addition to all this large sum, is the fact that we must stay in the city of Caracas-Venezuela for at least a full month, food, transfers, consultations, postoperative medicines, etc, all this and our budget is currently zero, since unfortunately everything we had saved we spent here because of the bad diagnoses and improvised treatments to which my husband was subjected.

Taking advantage of the fact that we were in Caracas I took the copies of everything, reports, budget and we took it to the presidential palace in an office they have called Sovereign People Foundation which is responsible for helping people with few resources to cover the costs of operation and treatment, which I had understood if they provided help, But unfortunately so far we have not had a positive response, they have only told me that it is very difficult for them to approve that budget, that we have to wait, but time is what my husband is not having, because if we take more time to do the operation he may have permanent damage to the spinal cord and will not walk again.

This has been a very uphill journey that we have faced, we are homeless and now we are living on our own, without a job because we sold the business, with nothing, just because of a bad diagnosis, now we still have to find this amount of money that is almost impossible for us to have, besides the depression that my husband has because he can not make his normal life, that is why I need your help, all the support you want to give me.

Muchos son los médicos por los que ha tenido que pasar mi esposo, muchos diagnósticos y muchos tratamientos, sin tener ningún resultado positivo, es decir, hagan lo que hagan hasta ahora nada le calma el dolor. Con el pasar de los meses el médico tratante en ese momento recomendó operar, para retirar la prótesis y así descomprimir la médula y calmar el dolor.

Estábamos dispuestos a conseguir la cifra que nos estaban pidiendo para la operación que era una suma bien grande, eran 23.500$ de la operación sin meter medicinas adicionales de la recuperación, luego de mucho pensarlo, tomamos la decisión de vender nuestra casa, nuestro carro y también nuestro negocio de festejo y eventos, todo para conseguir la suma que necesitábamos, con eso conseguimos una parte para la operación y aún nos faltaba la mitad o algo asi ya no recuerdo bien.

Los meses fueron transcurriendo y en vista de que no teníamos el dinero, empezamos a probar otras alternativas sugeridas por los médicos para tratar de calmar el dolor, probamos terapias neurales, terapias físicas, medicamentos de todo tipo y nada aminoraba el dolor, y lo peor aún estaba por venir, pues a pesar de la lesión y el dolor mi esposo aún podía caminar con dificultad Pero lo hacía, trataba de hacer una vida normal.

Los meses fueron pasando y el neurocirujano decía que estos tratamientos lo estaban ayudando, que necesitábamos operar y listo problema resuelto, Pero en honor a la verdad, mi esposo empeoraba día con día, prácticamente su capacidad de caminar fue disminuyendo, al punto de ya no poder mantenerse en pie, y cuando lo hace los gritos de dolor y desesperación es lo que escuchó.

Ya casi se acercaba la fecha en la que se cumpliría un año de lo sucedido y todo iba en retroceso, llegamos a un punto en el que prácticamente a diario teníamos que asistir a la emergencia del hospital de la ciudad de Cumaná Estado Sucre-Venezuela, ciudad en donde vivimos porque mi esposo no soporta el dolor, cabe destacar que en cada visita a la emergencia le informamos al neurocirujano y este decía que siguiera con la terapia y tratamiento que así iba a mejorar, mientras se operaba.

No sé imaginan lo duro que era y que es ver a mi esposo gritando de dolor y que haga lo que haga nada lo calma, y más angustiante es escuchar al médico decir que todo estaba bien, que solo hacía falta la terapia y la operación, terapia la cual yo presentía que nada le estaba ayudando, por lo que mi esposo y yo decidimos pararlas y buscar nuevas alternativas, fue así como buscando por internet encontré una reseña de un neurocirujano pionero en cirugía mínima invasiva el cuál estaba catalogado como uno de los mejores neurocirujanos de Latinoamérica, y lo tenemos acá en nuestro país, en la ciudad de Caracas, de inmediato me puse en marcha y le escribí al doctor, le mandé los informes, todo lo que tenía, pensado que pasarían muchos días y quizás hasta meses para que él lo leyera, en el caso de que lo hiciera ya que sabíamos lo difícil que es conseguir una cita con este médico, Pero para mí sorpresa al día siguiente, recibí respuesta, el doctor nos agendo una cita para ver a mi esposo ya que le pareció un caso bastante interesante para tratar.

No lo pensamos más y con los pocos ahorros que nos quedaban nos fuimos a la ciudad de Caracas-Venezuela, cuando llegamos nos mandaron hacerle nuevos estudios a mi esposo los cuales acabaron casi con la totalidad de nuestros recursos económicos, porque para los que no lo saben está clínica es una de las más costosa del país, Pero creanme vale cada centavo que gastas allí, porque el trato es bien diferente, desde que llegamos nos hicieron sentir que éramos seres humanos.

Cuando el doctor revisa los resultados de los estudios realizados y escucha todo lo que le hicieron a mi esposo acá en Cumaná, se horroriza, no podía creer como un neurocirujano con la lesión tan severa que tiene mi esposo en la columna lo puso hacer terapia, y como le aplicó los diferentes tratamientos que lo único que hicieron fue empeorar la lesión haciéndola más grande y muchísimo más peligrosa ya que casi está comprometida la médula ósea, además del daño causado a las vértebras, las cuales en su mayoría están completamente dañadas.

¿Se imaginan cómo me sentí? Pues estafada, porque estos tratamientos fueron bien costosos, el doctor indico una cirugía a la brevedad posible, le prohibió terminantemente caminar para no agrandar aún más la lesión, por una parte estábamos felices porque al fin teníamos un diagnóstico real, uno con el que estábamos de acuerdo, Pero por otro lado nos invadió nuevamente el terror, y no estábamos tan alejados de porque sentir eso, ya que cuando vimos los costos de la operación y de las prótesis porque ahora debido a la lesión deben ser dos, estos costos casi me dan un infarto.

La suma, nada más y nada menos que la operación 27.896$ y las prótesis 6600$ eso sin contar que deben hacerse los estudios preoperatorios que entre todos dan un total de 500$ más, además de toda esta gran suma, está el hecho de que debemos permanecer en la ciudad de Caracas-Venezuela por al menos un mes completo, la comida, traslados, consultas, medicinas postoperatorias, etc, todo esto y nuestro presupuesto en la actualidad es de cero, ya que lastimosamente todo lo que teníamos ahorrado los gastamos acá a causa de los malos diagnósticos y de los tratamientos improvisados a los que fue sometido mi esposo.

Aprovechando que estábamos en Caracas saque las copias de todo, informes, presupuesto y lo llevamos a palacio presidencial en una oficina que tienen llamada Fundación pueblo soberano la cual se encarga de ayudar a las personas con pocos recursos a cubrir los gastos de operación y tratamientos, la cual tenía entendido si prestaba ayuda, pero lamentablemente hasta el momento no hemos tenido respuesta positiva, únicamente me han dicho que es bien difícil que aprueben ese presupuesto, que hay que esperar, Pero tiempo es lo que no le está quedando a mí esposo, ya que si nos tardamos más en hacer la operación posiblemente tenga un daño permanente en la médula y no volverá a caminar.

Está ha sido una travesía bien cuesta arriba la que hemos afrontado, quedamos sin hogar y vivir ahora de arrimados, sin empleo porque vendimos el negocio, sin nada, solo por un mal diagnóstico, ahora nos queda por delante conseguir esta cantidad de dinero que para nosotros es casi imposible de tener, además de la depresión que tiene mi esposo por no poder hacer su vida normal, es por eso que necesito de tu ayuda, de todo el apoyo que me quieras dar.

No está fácil conseguir esa meta Pero desde el fondo de mi corazón siento que lo vamos a lograr, muchos me han preguntado porque no acudir a las instalaciones públicas, pero para los que estan aca en Venezuela, y saben como es de crítica la situación, les preguntó: ¿Pondrías la vida de un ser querido en manos de estos “médicos”?. Estamos conscientes de que es una suma grande Pero nada es imposible cuando se tiene fé.

En la actualidad mi esposo está bajo total reposó, bajo medicamentos que prácticamente lo mantienen dormido la mayor parte del tiempo para evitar sentir el dolor tan agudo que tiene, en las imágenes están los teléfonos del médico tratante, por si alguien pone en duda la veracidad de los presupuestos, lo digo porque sé mejor que nadie como es de malvado algunos seres humanos, que siempre piensan mal, creanme yo jamás usaría una enfermedad para obtener algún beneficio.

Necesitamos de tu ayuda, de tu colaboración y sobretodo de tu apoyo, en estos momentos hemos perdido todo lo material por lo que hemos trabajado siempre, Pero nuestra fe es inquebrantable, y sabemos, yo estoy segura que más pronto que tarde, veré a mi esposo @gilliatt caminar nuevamente sin dolor, para seguir adelante con la labor que veníamos haciendo en nuestro ecosistema, labor que debió ser detenida a causa de este problema, Pero que al salir de este mal trance, estamos más que dispuestos a continuar.
