It has been yet another week of me being on Steemit for a total of 6 already, time sure does fly when having fun, right? Anyway, let me see how things have changed in numbers since the last week and what I have achieved in just 7 more days (Steemit achievements anyone?). You can also check my last week's status report here if interested to see the numbers and the progress back then. After the stats I'll also share some more things that have happened and some other general thoughts...

What I'm seeing here is that the number of posts, both Blog posts and comments aren't as much as in the previous weeks and indeed I have been writing and commenting a bit less as I was busier with other things. My ranking based on estimated account value and Steem Power has grown a bit, but this is due to me purchasing Steem and Powering Up, so I have actually invested some more money into Steem. My curation rewards are not increased by a lot and not much change on my ranking there as the last few days I did not have a lot of time to curate posts like I usually do, but with the recent increase of my voting power I'll be going more active again. That is only if the new voting changes scheduled to come online in a few days with the Steem 0.14.0 hardfork don't discourage me to be an active curator... will see in a few days. One of the other reasons of my reduction of voting is the fact that the voting sldier still does not work properly under IE11 and I have to switch browsers every time I need to vote for something, being a comment or a post.
Topics I've Been Covering Lately
In the past week I have tried to start a new series about RC cars and maybe RC models in general, but the first two posts did not get much of attention and no comments... so instead I will be posting more RC photos with just a bit of extra details than going for long introductory posts for the moment and maybe continue the serious part so the series at a later time. Still one of the most frustrating things on Steemit is when you spend a couple of hours on a Blog post to cover some topic in depth, most of my posts are not very short, and then it received 0 comments... it is not the reward and getting many votes, it is the zero comments it got that really discourages you to continue writing. Ok, if you are a new user and have no followers yet you may be getting 0 comments on posts and not be bothered by it, but after some time spent on Steemit you don't expect one of your better posts to get like 0 comments. It essentially means that there is not much interest in the topic on Steemit or at last among your followers for the moment. I have experienced something similar with the 3D printing series initially, but still I managed to get it up to 10 parts and I do plan to continue with more at some point...
The other topic I have started posting more on in the last week or so was regarding the blue light and how it can affect our sleep, mostly focusing on the digital devices that we tend to use late at night before going to bed - smartphones, tablets and even computers... very relevant for many Steemit users. The topics covered some solutions and some tips for reducing the Blue Light that might prevent you from getting to sleep easier when you go to bed and having a good night sleep. These posts did get some more attention as this is really useful and helpful information that can benefit people for a better sleep. I probably got a bit too technical on some of them making the posts not so interesting for the regular users, still the tips and the software I have tested can really be useful. So if you have missed these you might want to go and check them out, especially if you are on Steemit late at night before going to bed.
I do have some interesting ideas for more topics to cover in the next week...
Other Things I have Done
In the past week I have officially applied as a backup witness as I was already running a full Steemit node anyway because of my pet project @robotev. I'm not a developer or a full-fledged programmer, but there are other ways I can and am already helping and contributing to Steemit, or at least I think so. This is the moment I need to thank a few people that have approved me as a witness already, these are: @liberosist, @oaldamster, @cristi, @ottodv, @steevc and especially @robotev for being a loyal bot and doing what I tell him to :D
The work on the bot is going well, I have been improving the code of the bot to make it more useful and helpful for finding good content from authors that are not already popular and established names on Steemit and voting for these posts. This however requires a lot of time to be spent on tracking the operations of the bot and adjusting things as I'm actually manually going through all of the posts that the bot votes for to check them. This is all a part of the process and also one of the reasons that I was writing and commenting less in the past week. I have also been powering up the bot a bit by bit as it gets better as it improves, though it still does not have that much Steem Power available.
I'm still not sure how things will go after the upcoming Steem 0.14.0 hardfork in a few days after the voting changes in favor of less votes with maximal power, probably will have to reduce the voting power of the votes to compensate, but will see how things will go. I do not plan on stopping the bot as I really think that it is doing a good job and may be even more useful in the future for encouraging new users that make good content on Steemit to continue doing so and not give up easily.
