It is indeed exciting to see @archisteem to reach this milestone of getting 500 stories collected. Meaning to say, we have 501 stories to go and the editorial team and graphic design team need to pace up and start the work to hit our year-end goal.
Truly, it is amazing to look back at how we started this project with zero funding, zero stories, and zero authors. Everything is like a mess and people do not know how to participate in our initiative. I would say that a pure architectural post is not what the majority will do in general. From here, we learned that picking up the trend of how the people write and finding ways to provide more value for the authors is a way to kick start and grow an initiative. The team is lucky enough to realize the trend of people posting about #travel and #photography which are both being the top used and rewarded tags in Steemit. Then, we linked up #travel with #architecture since traveling is about exploring places which we think resemblance very much to an architecture related post. Once we captured this concept, the vision became clearer and we continued to brainstorm along this direction. This led us to this project, 1001 Places to Remember.
After scrolling through #travel tag’s posts, we realized there are a lot of amazing stories by different authors. However, the problem with Steemit is that after 7 days expiration, the posts basically get forgotten and these expired posts will get flooded by newer posts. It is very inconvenient for readers especially the public to trace back and find travel related stories that they want to read about. For example, if we want to find some interesting stories about places in Switzerland, how should we even start to find? There is little to none places that we can go to, except for @steemitworldmap which did an amazing job to compile stories into a map. What we want to provide is that an extra value based on the work done by @steemitworldmap which is adding a customized summary by our team to curate on what the stories are about and highlight keywords about the stories so that readers can easily pinpoint the material that they want to read about based on places and genre like food, trekking, culture, arts and so on.
This is the value that we believe is useful for the Steem community and also the mass public other from the blockchain can benefit from such a compilation. By having this goal in our mind, we put our effort and belief on the project, 1001 Places to Remember to produce an MVP (Minimal Viable Product) which could prove the concept of such product is something beneficial to the people and can become a demand. Since it really helps people to solve some problems, we do believe that the possibility to realize the project is pretty high. After going through all this thinking, we started the project and now we are halfway there to the ultimate goal which is to produce an E-publication of 1001 places that worth our readers to remember, also for the authors.
Again, super thanks to all the 186 amazing authors that had contributed their works to the project and we believe the list will keep expanding and we will continue to compile and improve our database framework. After this project, our aim is to convert all these into a website with all this data, accessible to all. This will further increase the impact of the project, taking this small step as a foundation. Really excited to see how things evolve without knowing what it will really turn out to be. Ultimately, we will strive to promote the awareness and education about the betterment of our future built environment.
Shout out for all the authors that had contributed to the project with the numbers of contributed stories.
Again, big thank you to all of you <3
