Journal of Experimental Botany - Behemoth Realms Post №7

Convallaria Majalis
Project: Behemoth Realms
Series: Journal of Experimental Botany
Mix Media on A3 Paper
2015 Inspiration: Convallaria majalis

The inspiration for this painting is, like suggested by the title, the Convallaria majalis plant commonly known as the Lily of the valley.

Although it is highly poisonous if ingested, the Lily of the valley is very often used in flower arrangements because of its delicate appearance and sweet smell.

The creature in the painting, in my opinion, inspires fragility and resilience at the same time, just like the plant.
