cinco de la mañana
mi abuela levantándose
ágil figura.
Rayos del sol filtran los huecos del zinc
en el techo,
la leña arde en el fogón
mis dedos, inquietos,
acarician mis ojos entreabiertos.
Toc, toc, toc
suena el madero en el pilón
los pájaros salen de las ramas.
El agua hierve
y el aroma del café
recién colado
me despierta.
Te sonrío muda
bebo un sorbo,
perfumado misterio
ancestral.

five in the morning
my grandmother getting up
Agile figure
Sun rays filter zinc gaps
in the roof,
firewood burns in the stove
my fingers, restless,
fondle my eyes half open.
Knock Knock knock
the wood sounds on the pylon
the birds out of the branches.
Water boils
and the aroma of coffee
freshly brewed
wakes me up.
I smile at you mute
drink a sip,
scented mystery
ancestral.
