I’ve passed the 250 followers mark, let’s celebrate - Contest winners announcement

Last week I've launched a little contest to celebrate my first milestone: reaching 250 followers. The rule and requirements for the contest can be found on the previous post.

Thanks to all the participants especially those who have spent time to do the writing contest.

Price #1

This is an easy one and requires a reputation level of at least 40 to participate. This to prove you have been doing the right thing so far.

This price contains 4 shares (1 per winner) of #steembasicincome two of which I reserve to the #vn Vietnamese community. To participate, please add a comment to this post and tell me something about you: where you are from, what kind of content you post on Steemit, what you do for hobby etc...

Winners of the Vietnamese prize

Vietnamese participants were: @a-alice @lenancie @nguyentrung @anfood @lantracy @tranquoccuong

@a-alice @lenancie @nguyentrung have written a very detailed description of themselves and what they do on and outside Steem which is very appreciated.

@a-alice is a very determined young girl who had gone through a lot of struggle in her young life. To prove her parents she is responsible and can take control of her own finance, she did a lot of extra jobs and even took on some heavy jobs usually done by men. The hard tasks required by the jobs made her realise the real value of money.

A little visit to her blog shows original posts and photographs (well done!), maybe the only thing I would improve on is the formatting: a lot of her posts were center align which can make it less easy to read, but it seems to have improve with her latest posts.

@lenancie described her discovery of Steemit which at the beginning feels like just another social platform not as good looking as Facebook. As time goes by she discovered the whole new world of possibilities that Steemit is opening. She is willing to help the Vietnamese community to grow and success on the platform.

I like how @lenancie posts are nicely formatted with well separated paragraphs which makes it easy to digest the content, especially when in Vietnamese because I'm not a fluent Vietnamese reader. @lenancie also post original content and seems to always source any photographs that is not hers (kudos!).

@nguyentrung is a student at ERC Việt Nam who works part-time in the evening to help ends meet. He joined Steemit after seeing a post from @johnnytringuyen a popular Vietnamese American actor. Steemit is for him a new income source, a way to improve his english skills, meet people from around the world, a way to acquire experience in various domains.

However, upon browsing his blog, I noticed (on top of center align text, which I'm personally not a fan of) @nguyentrung regularly uses external photos without adding a link to the source. I highly recommend to always add source to any images you use that are not yours, unless they are from free image libraries such as Pixabay but then it does not hurt to still add the source and shows respect for other’s work.

Based on these, I'm announcing the two Vietnamese winners are @a-alice and @lenancie, congratulations, you have both won 1 share of @steembasicincome which will give you a lifetime upvote on your content.

Price #2

This is a writing contest to allow good content writer to get something even if they have a low reputation.

Write a post on your favourite topic and post a link here. I will read your posts and decide who’s the winner based on how I enjoyed the read and on the quality of the content: well written, well formatted, easy to read, source to quotes and images added (plagiarists will be disqualified). The single winner will get all the SBD from this post (so upvote and, if possible resteem to increase its payout and your price). If the author reward is less than 2 SBD, then I will add 2 SBD of my own. If you have not won the price #1 you will also get one share to the #steembasicincome

In this post @inspiredgideon1 is helping raising awareness on all the phishing scams that are currently happening on Steem. Thank you so much for doing this, we need more people to learn about it, start to care about the safety of their password and keys and learn how to be more careful on Steemit or on any other websites.

@lantracy is "An English teacher for kindergarten", in this post she is explaining the common grammatical errors with the verb "to feel". Steemit is mainly an english platform, however, there are a lot of non-english users here, posts like this will help people increase their english skill. https://steemit.com/writing/@lantracy/common-grammatical-errors-feel-feel-like-nhung-loi-ngu-phap-tieng-anh-pho-bien-eng-vn

@tranquoccuong is reviewing the game Arena of Valor, especially the use of the character Moren - Mechanical engineer. I'm not into gaming but I can see the value of such reviews/guides for those who are.

Thanks @dfinney for sharing this touching post. Music really has that magic ability to transport you back in time, sometimes to places you totally forgot about or even to some places buried so deep you don't even know why you reacting as such. I really like that song "I’ll Follow You Into the Dark" by Dark by Death Cab for Cutie, so I went and purchased it on iTunes. Thanks for introducing me to this great song.

Choosing the winner here has been particularly difficult as both are adding values. But I've made my mind and have chosen @dfinney as winner of this writing contest because I did enjoy the read, it was touching and I even ended up buying the song on iTunes. Congratulations @dfinney, you have won all the SBDs from the contest post (5.540 SBD).

Price 3

You’re not good at writing or not good enough there at English, you still can win a little something to help you while you improve your writing skills. I will draw a random upvoter and the winner will get 1 STEEM.

It is technically possible for one person to win the more than one price.

This third price was to give a chance to everyone to win something. There was 98 upvotes, I've removed users with a level higher than Minnow and bots so there are 81 participants:

Main and Bonus prize

I've decided to have two winners to compensate for the fact that I had some curation trails happening.

Congratulations to @hoaiquyen and @fishyculture

Summary

Total prize value: 11.5 STEEM + 5.540 SBD.

The prize will be transferred soon, it also takes few days for the @steembasicincome shares to be processed. Please, be patient.

It took me over 3 hours to write this post and go through all the entries. I've not only learned a lot about contest writing but I've also got to discover more about you guys, which is invaluable. I have some ideas for future contests and will apply what I've learned with this one.

Again, congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all of you.
