Apr. 23 -- Steemit Ramble #97 -- Don't You Hate Missing Good Posts?

I’ve been occupied with attending the Legion’s annual District Convention this weekend. I decided to write about it here Hope you enjoy the post.

I will be doing some extra shifts at the branch this week but other than that I hope to get a productive week in. Will be nice to focus on some writing. Well, and some housework. I have a lot of catching up to do with that but some every day will get me there.

Onward to today’s rambling

What it was like, what happened, and what it's like now: A year of sobriety part VII

I don’t know if there is a harder journey to take than the one back from the edge of destruction by alcohol or drugs (or both) other than maybe the family and loved ones who can only watch helplessly as the person first descends into addiction and then climbs out. @ikilledcobain writes about his person journey. This is part VII, I’ve not seen the other parts. Just a suggestion but you might want to put links to the other parts in your posts.

When you are living in the future (using crypto) it is sometimes hard to accept the reality you really live in.

@exyle writes about the time that electronically transferring funds can take these days, he includes the fiat banking system as well as crypto. You might be surprised how long some takes.

Best 3D tattoos in the world HD [ Part 2 ] Amazing Tattoo Designs

I’m not usually inclined to watch video but I was glad I watched this one. The four minute video is a slide show of some incredible 3-D Tattoos. Some of them are amazingly realistic.

CAT DRAWING - ADOBE SKETCH

Even without being the sucker for cats that I am, I’m impressed with this sketch of a dressed cat done on an ipad. Well done @genyway

Come with me to the park - > The rhythm of nature

@yusaymon has taken some beautiful closeups of nature. I love the detail.

April 25: Anniversary of the liberation in Italy

@silviabeneforti writes about the Italian Partisans that worked to topple Mussolini during WW2 and set the stage for the country to be liberated from the Germans by the Allies. I’m a bit partial to that history, my father and uncle both fought in the Italian Campaign.

My name is Deva Winblood...

@dwinblood talks about his name, how it is properly pronounced and how it came to be in its current form. A priest we had at the church I attended once talked about how a person’s name is the one thing they are guaranteed to own throughout their life. It is the first thing we encounter as we get to know the person. Not using their name correctly is disrespectful of the person.

I have a very simple name. One that could be a short form of a longer name that isn’t, as my mother named me this form, not the longer. And there is an even shorter form that I have always hated. When I turned 50 I finally decided to stand my ground and not allow anyone to address me with a name that was not of my choosing. I have been unrelenting for the last eight years and now only occasionally does anyone take their chances by calling me anything but my name.

A Steem Meme - That Feeling When The Price Of Steem Goes Up And You Spent All Your Time Blogging Elesewhere

Okay, this meme is cute and to the point. Worth the peek at.

The Forgotten Garden

Now this is the type of art post I really enjoy. Not only does the artist, @reddust, share with us a photo of the artwork but discussion about the piece. I can appreciate the beauty of a piece but I appreciate even more some insight into what the artist is trying to share and convey with the piece. Nice work.

ATLANTIS -- WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO IT

@macksby writes about the legendary lost city of Atlantis. The speculation on if and where the city existed has fascinated down through the ages.

Everybody Get It Wet: The Importance of Hydration

I know that many people don’t see the value in drinking proper amounts of water each day. Many believe that as long as they have liquids that’s good enough. I may have at one time bought into that concept but as I get older, and many days start feel the effects of aging, I find the more water I drink, the higher my energy levels are. I don’t often take alcoholic drinks and even rare consume sugar. @gardenofeden writes an interesting post on the benefits of being properly hydrated.

Wrap-up on Day #97

Well, once again it took me a couple of days to finish this edition. I combed through a lot of posts to find these and I’m glad I took the time. I can still get to edition #100 by the end of the month if I don’t take two days each time. See what I can do about that.
