Welcome back for more dragon art! Today I'll share with you the process I've used to create my Inktober drawings. If you missed part 1 you can read it here.
Finished Inktober Page 3

I started Inktober in October, but I never finished it. Last few weeks I've finally sat down and drew dragons for the rest of the themes. Page 4 is done and Page 5 is on the way.
First I look at the theme given and then I google some reference for the first idea that comes to mind.
For the "run" I thought of cheetahs, because of their speed. I loosely sketched the body shape based on a few reference images. While sketching I decided to add a long mane to accentuate the movement. In the end I added long wings to make it a bit more of a dragon than a cat.
When inking I started with the outline: first the eye and the face, the then rest of the body.
I used the 0.1 ink pen for that. Afterwards I switcged to a 0.4 pen and redrew the lines in the shadows, to give the dragons feeling of volume. I do shading with the 0.1 pen, but I don't do all of it at once. I usually shade in one direction so it's recognized as shading instead of texture. Also by shading in one direction you avoid creating unwanted dark spots. Textures are usually last, they can easily make a sketch look more unique.
When I was done with all of the details, I used a bottle of ink and a brush to fill the big areas that I previously marked for contrast. Otherwise too much white space makes it difficult to distinguish dragons from each other.
Perra- extremely light and fast for its size. Almost like it's feathers in a wind.
Eris- it's like a porcupine except its big shards are obsidian.
Terovhyn- it feeds on fear, can only be seen in the dark because it's darker than darness itself.
Caimtoille- rarely seen possibly extinct creature. It's crystal on the head can show the viewer their future.
Egesty- a cute friendly dragon. Lovess carrots.
Taegair- a swan cousin that can breathe fire.
Thank you for reading! Part 3 will be out in a couple of days!
