Today's episode is a major tear-jerker. I identified one of my biggest plants as a male, which if left in a garden will pollinate all of the female plants, causing them to create seeds which could be used for genetics if fully developed, or herm out (turn into hermaphrodites), which means many seeds (potentially underdeveloped) populating your eventual flowers.

Besides the fact that seeds in #cannabis are about the least desirable component that could potentially manifest (unless doing so purposely in a controlled environment), it also requires an enormous amount of energy for your plants to create those seeds, energy that would otherwise be utilized for flower development and overall plant growth. As a result, you will get smaller buds that are less potent, filled with seeds (less quality & quantity). That is why it is imperative that you remove a male plant from your garden the moment the gender is verified to be male, without hesitation.

The strain of sed removed male plant is called DMT Dream. Dangit male plant, your killing my dream!

I find it slightly ironic that I am also growing a strain called Vampire (also from seed), as it would seem that in order for those to survive, another plant needed to be sacrificed. The other DMT Dream is growing next to the two Vampires, so lets hope they don't have to sink their teeth into another one.

I also discuss/display our final plant leaf clean-up and toppings, and hopefully am able to clone the Vampire tops I took. I replaced the sacrafied DMT Dream with a Blue City Diesel I was growing in a 5 gallon bucket. Hopefully the pest issues the BCD was having earlier in the season will not re-manifest late in the year.

Did you know that male cannabis plants can actually be beneficial to your vegetable garden?! Male cannabis plants can spread terpenes to your vegetables adding a spice of variety to your food, and adds an extra layer of protection against pests and disease. Male cannabis is a great companion plant for many species, you just have to make sure to plant them far away from any female cannabis you are growing, preferably with a hillside and/or thick treeline separating them..
