Sunday Run: Running on clouds

I just finished a 11.544km running that lasted about 1hh:6mm:55.0ss !

I was out at a party last night. I did not drink much, but I did eat a lot from the huge buffet, so I was not feeling at my best this morning. My legs did not feel great either, but I was determined to get out. I was eager to try out my new shoes. I bought a pair of On Cloudflow shoes on Friday. This is not a brand I knew, but I found them in Well Run Sports in Hitchin. The guy in there was very helpful. I tried some others from Brooks and Asics. I used his running machine to get a feel for them and the Cloudflow just felt good. They are very light and almost felt like there was no shoe there. They were a little more expensive than I was thinking I would spend, but none of the decent shoes are cheap. He threw in a pair of socks as an extra and it was only later I saw that those were pretty expensive too. I've never paid that much for socks! I think it is worth paying a little extra for good service and with things like running shoes you do need to try them out.

Doing a long run confimed this feeling. It did feel like I needed a little less effort to keep going and the time was reasonable for how I was feeling generally. I will say that the laces are a bit long and thin and those soles are going to pick up stones. They are not as cushioned as some shoes, but I think I can adapt to that.

It was not as hot as my Wednesday run, but I still got a good sweat on. Lots of runners out, but I keep seeing different people around. My guts were a bit out of sorts and so I could not have gone on for longer.
