We're approaching the end of a rocky week for Steemit. When I joined last August the Steem price was up around a dollar and top posts were earning thousands. Now it's below 8c. As I've said before I don't consider this the end of the world. I'm actually making a good amount from posts and comments. For the size of the audience (potentially a few thousand, but the views are much lower) I consider it a reasonable return. Should Steemit grow to many millions of active users then thousand dollar posts seem more proportionate. Of course I'd love to make my fortune here, but it's a gamble of my time. I do have a lot of here due to the amazing community, so I wouldn't consider it wasted anyway.
The selected Steemians includes a few who have been featured before, but they deserve it.
- @tatianamoroz has embraced cryptocurrencies to the extent of having her own coin and singing about Bitcoin. I saw one of her videos on a post and later discovered she has been on Steemit since the early days. Great to have her here.
- @mynameisbrian is not afraid to get controversial with his series of comics about Steemit and other topics. In the era of 'fake news' he's making sense to me and making me laugh.
- @giantbear has brought 61 of her students to Steemit. We need the next generation of bloggers here. They will get to enjoy a new form of internet that is not controlled by corporations with a whole new economy.
- @katharsisdrill has a long-running weekly comic that I love. It's now being translated into German and French so that even more people can enjoy it. Will it ever be in Welsh?
- @uwelang is an old friend I've never met, but hope to some day. He's exploring what Steemit can be and promoting it too. We share a liking for beer. He's awaiting his 300th follower. It could be you!
- @surpassinggoogle is generously rewarding good comments with a little Steem. I've been lucky to get well rewarded for some of my comments. I love the conversations here even when I totally disagree with some of the people. We should all need to think about what we believe.
We should have the next hard fork next week, so we'll see what that brings. I wish you all the best!
