La Catedral Metropolitana de Santiago de Chile es el templo principal de la Iglesia católica en este país. Se trata de un conjunto de edficios, considerados monumentos nacionales, que incluyen el Palacio arzobispal, la Parroquia del Sagrario y el templo propiamente dicho. Ha sufrido muchas modificaciones y ampliaciones (el actual es el quinto templo levantado en el lugar) debido al crecimiento de la ciudad y también a desastres naturales y sus primeras construcciones datan del siglo XVI, con lo que tenemos uno de los edificios más antiguos de la ciudad y del país. La foto la tomé desde la torra Vicuña Makenna, ubicada frente a la también histórica Plaza de Armas.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago de Chile is the main temple of the Catholic Church in this country. It is a set of buildings, all considered national monuments, that include the Archbishop's Palace, the Parish of El Sagrario and the temple itself. It has undergone many modifications and extensions (the current one is the fifth temple builded in the place) due to the growth of the city and also to natural disasters and its first constructions date from the 16th century, with which we have one of the oldest buildings in the city and country. I took the photo from the Vicuña Makenna tower, located in front of the also historic Plaza de Armas.
