Time to Finish my First Video Game - What Would Hypersensitivosaurus Do?

recording (1).gif

Yesterday afternoon, I returned to my home after two days spent with family. It was a nice break and I enjoyed not staring at my laptop for over 65 hours. I checked the date and realized that I still had some time left to make the deadline of the 'dinosaur game jam'.

More info on that - and the story behind the title of my game - can be found in my earlier post What Would Hypersensitivosaurus Do?

It's now a day later and there's less than 22 hours left. As it's around 11 am and I'm not an early bird, I have till the end of the day to finish my first game ( ever ).

A couple of days ago, when I talked a little with my brother about my venture into game making, he mentioned the importance of finishing things, even if that just meant adding 'THE END' to a game that felt far from finished.

This reminded me of the '12 movies 12 minutes' short film project that I worked on in 2012. Even though I didn't make it to 12 short films that year, I finished 9 shorts. And that after having worked on one single short film for 8 months in 2010/'11 and having been even less productive in almost a decade of ( trying to do ) film making prior to that.

Unfinished Stories

I must say I take somewhat of a pride in wearing the 'Unfinished Stories' label. I even thought of releasing a book with a bunch of my ( and possibly other people's ) unfinished writing for the reader to finish.

But perhaps, that unfinished stories label was merely invented by me to not feel too bad about something that happens to me again and again, being this hypersensitive and thus easily distracted creative creature.

Now Back to my Hypersensitivosaurus Game

According to @riverflows #hypersensitivosaurus is the cutest tag on Steemit so far, so I decided to add it to this post again. I worked on my game for several hours yesterday and am planning to do the same again.

Above this post you will find a GIF of the start of this funny adventure about this emotional giant lizard.

I could go on and on, talking about it. Nevertheless, I think it's wiser to focus on finishing it, one way or another, so I can proudly say that I made a deadline, that I finished my first video game ( and I did it all by myself! ). And - more importantly - I can actually submit it to the jam, which is - after all - a contest. Who knows, people might even like it ;>)

All kidding aside, the most important thing is that I found a new, creative way of expressing myself that I am enjoying more than I expected. And - I will hereby remind you of the following: Life is about finding enjoyment in whatever you are doing, by being mindful about it. And - if possible - to find new things that you enjoy easily, to add to the list.

but, first of all
