I recently posted Art Talk: Agave stained glass window- Part 1- with videos where I showed the making the cartoon, the colors and cutting of my agave stained glass window.
In part 2 I will show the grinding, copper foil and soldering the window.
Grinding
Part of the process of stain glass is grinding the glass.

Copper foil
There are two methods to put stained glass together- Lead came and copper foil. I choose to use copper foil for this piece, it is small enough that I could choose either.
I am so excited! It is looking so good. Next is soldering!
Solder
To solder I use a 50/50 tin lead metal mixture. First, you brush flux on the copper foil and then put the solder on the flux. I really like soldering!
I am using a hot soldering iron in one hand and holding the solder in the other hand, so I don't have pictures of the process.

This is half the agave soldered.
Here is the whole front soldered. You can tell by my smile how excited I am!

As I was completing this stained glass window my teacher made a comment that I have thought about a lot.
While admiring my window he said, "A few weeks ago this piece of art did not exist in the world. You made this."
Wow that is powerful. From God's beautiful creation of the agave, to a picture I took of the agave I made this beautiful stained glass window.
