Chapter III The Sister
Walk around the city
Angeline was happy to have met Mindy, her father, saying goodbye to her, had insisted that she should do everything possible to meet her sister in case he stopped communicating with her. He had to return to his country since his mother Mary had passed away and his father, being so old, wanted to return to his country to look for his daughter. It had been many years since they saw each other and his desire to see her again had kept him uneasy.
She took her request seriously and did not wish to have to glitch, as many things were at stake and her fortune depended on completing that commission.
On the island where she lived her life until then it had been quite monotonous, so the impact of being in a big city kept her busy discovering new things for her.
(End 5 minutes)
The first day of her arrival in the city she called her sister Mindy by phone and managed to agree to meet her. As the meeting was going to be held in the afternoon, I take advantage of getting to know the city, calling attention to how noisy it was and the traffic congestion that occurred in some of the streets. However, he realized that the city had something of charm that made it special.
One of the details of the city that most caught his attention was how aggressive the people had to be to face challenges to maintain an adequate standard of living. Despite this, she found everything one could imagine, on the street she saw people who gave the impression of being very poor, others lived in a hurry to get to their jobs early in the morning to return tired in the afternoon. It was surprising that the free spaces were only dedicated to gardens without having spaces for growing vegetables or fruits. In the town where she came from, people had a monotonous but calmer life, without having many sources of income, their lives passed peacefully. In most of the houses there was an orchard where vegetables and fruit trees are grown.
Memories
While there, she now remembered the times that her father narrated her life in the city during the moments of his breaks from his life at sea when for a few days he spent them with his wife and daughter Mindy, his nostalgia sometimes that his eyes shone with few tears.
He had been a strong man, after the incident in the bar, having paid past the accusation towards which little by little he had lost the rudeness that he had as a sea lion.
Despite this, in his spirit he always remained indomitable to transmit it to her.
Since her mother had given her shelter in her house, she took care of him since she was a very kind person, her biological father had died when she was a baby and until the moment that Thomas appeared at her house, her mother had not shared her life with no other man.
Her memories of Christmas when Thomas gave the dollhouse to her turned out to be a special surprise, that day he had the delicacy after they opened the gifts, helped her finish putting it together, she remembered her patience for completing all the details. Even in her house she keeps that first gift so that moment remained indelible to her.
The arrival
The trip had been complicated with all the stops she had to make, first she had to leave the island in a speedboat heading to a national airport where she would take a plane that would take her to the main airport in her country.
As she saw the need to reduce the price she had to pay for the trip, she selected an international route that included many stops, so she had to spend many hours waiting for the connection.
For all this, in many of the inter-scale trips she made she fell asleep during the flight, one of the things that caught her attention was the food service that in some of the flights the crew offered her, this for her represented a blessing since he did not have the need to make currency changes in the different countries that had to stop.
She finally had a trip of almost three days after leaving the island to reach the city where Mindy lived.
No one was waiting for her there, so she took a taxi that took her to a modest hotel, once she checked in and was assigned her room, excitedly she telephoned her sister to ask about her father Thomas.
When she answered the call, after asking about him, Mindy told him that he had already passed away, for her that was a shock, until that moment she still did not have the certainty that something bad had happened to her, however, if she she had missed that he had stopped communicating with her. All of this had prompted her to make the trip decision.
The room
The hotel manager at the time of receiving her asked her to fill out the entry form with all her information and when she answered some questions he was struck by her insular accent, he reminded her of his young times when he had spent time there.
He asked her if she came from the Reunion islands since there he had distant relatives with whom he had lost contact, she in effect confirmed that she came from there. Having said that, he handed over the keys indicating the assigned room. She did not have much luggage, after opening the door of the room he showed her the bed and checked that the hot water in the bathroom worked. As she was satisfied with everything, she exhausted slept for a time until lunchtime.
A call woke her from her lethargy, it was the hotel manager who called her to inform her that lunch was already served. She then taking her camera and after fixing her hair went to the hotel restaurant.
Seeing what time it was, excited to be there, the food tasted of glory, the menu that was served despite its simplicity reminded her of some of the meals her mother served her on some occasions. After finishing the waiter, he brought a cart of sweets, so she select a serving of chocolate cake accompanied by coffee.
With this, regained her strength she asked the hotel manager about what would be the best way to go to the Mall where he would meet Mindy. He explained in detail everything she had to do and how to get there.
Grateful, she could not find words to give him since since had arrived in that city, had not found a person as kind as him.
Subway ride
The metro station being close to the Hotel made it easier for her to locate her, when she entered there she was struck by how illuminated she was, her heart began to pound since she had never entered such a place, she asked one of the passers what had to do
The man, surprised by the question, that she asked him about something as trivial as going to take the subway. A little committed, she simply replied that although he did not believe it, it was his first time to do this tour, so he agreed to help her and bought her the ticket for the trip. After they both boarded the train, he began to tell her part of his life. Angeline found her conversation a bit trivial, one of the things that he told her was about the difficulties he had in paying the rent for the house, she then, without paying attention to it, began to remember the stories that her father told her. Upon arriving at the destination station, she said goodbye, thanking him for the shared moment.
The mall
After climbing the stairs of the subway and going out on the street, she had been in front of the Shopping Center where she would meet Mindy, the building being so spacious with two floors of bright white, her eyes dazzled her, the stores with their showcases displayed multiple clothes and shoes for both men and women, she never thought that she would like this first impression of the place so much.
As Mindy had indicated, she went to the central terrace where wait, at that moment it seemed like a dream, since his quiet life in the town where he lived did not have so many news.
The memory of her father came to her mind, who always told her that she had to be willing to meet new situations since she was worth a lot, thanks to those memories, time passed quickly until her sister Mindy appeared there.
Seeing her walk towards her, her heart beat strongly, her walk reminded her of her father's presence since she had a resemblance to that sailor who was the light of her life. Being next to her, she extended her hand introducing herself. At that moment Angeline found her a little cold since for both the meeting was not to her liking.
