Welcome to my seemingly endless journey.
A trip that will take you to places I might have visited many moons ago.
It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.
As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.

Chapter 43

She collapses only to regain her senses within seconds. She pulls herself free from the forest giant's grasp. The situation leaves little to the imagination, yet I think politeness is in order and so I ask; “We heard screaming and wondered if someone was in distress, apparently that is more or less the case. Could I ask if either of you could explain to me what is going on here?”
“No you can´t, this is a private matter,” the man bites at us. I look at the young woman, she is still shaking from shock. She looks around, curious about this strange company that came rushing to her cries. The look in her eyes quickly changes from fearful to something that leans towards confidence. She looks at the man and then back at the company.
"My uncle was angry because of the pitcher I broke, but I think your visit has cooled him down." She turns to Rech; “Thank you,” she looks him straight in the eye.
The man in the doorway cannot see her face. I, on the other hand, see her lips whisper something before she turns and walks back to the cabin. “You won't get off that easily next time,” we hear the man shout, as he slams the door shut.
I look at my companions in a daze, Numico looks pale. “Are you okay boy?” I ask. “That… that girl… that was that girl.” He stammers. “That girl from your dreams,” I respond excitedly. “No, that girl.. the one with the voice.”
A few seconds after the door closed, the sky began to cry, at first small drops fell, but in no time they were real tears, falling in large numbers.
On the other side of the hut, along the fence, I see a wooden partition. If it is what I think then it may also be in possession of a shelter. I walk there quickly. My assumption turns out to be correct but to make sure we are not seen, I continue walking. When the trees have hidden us from view, I point to the shelter, under which mountains of wood are drying.
“Careful, maybe he's still watching us. It was clear that he was not happy with our arrival. So I can imagine that he wants to make sure we leave. But this rain will soak us before darkness descends. It is better to wait here.”
“It certainly is,” Rechmana growls.
Only then do I remember the whispered words.
“One by one make sure we stay out of sight of that window,” I whisper.
When we all found a place under the canopy I look at Retsj.
“She said help me tonight,” he says without asking.
My eyes look questioning; “I felt like she didn't need us as soon as she went back to him.”
“That's right,” Numico answers, “but that could also mean something else. She is afraid of him, she wants to protect herself. Now if she had challenged him and we didn't protect her, what then? Maybe she couldn't take the risk .”
After a moment I realize that I have been fooled by my eyes, again. How shallow I am that such a boy gets more out of that picture than I do. Then I realize that Numico is not a boy like any other. Still, I should focus more on getting a broader view of things and not let the obvious make me suffer.
“What would she need our help for, she can't expect us to simply remove that man. In addition, is she actually helped by that? What can we do for her?” I ask.
“I have no idea, we can hardly ask her to travel with us. The dangers we expose her to then will be many times greater than the bully that now keeps her company. Maybe we can take her to relatives if it doesn't take us too far off track," Numico replies.
I nod.
“Men she needs us desperately, her eyes looked into mine, and no fear. I never see anyone look into my eye without fear, except for Mama. This young one is not easily scared, not even by the man. But she is unable to break away. Something is holding her back, I felt.”
“We'll stay here tonight and we'll wait. Let's try to get some rest, we have no idea what this night will bring us,” I suggest.
We moved the wood so that all three of us had room to sit against the back wall. This meant that Retsj's legs stuck out more than the little roof. He didn't even notice this.
The forest man had slept for nights under trees, while drops robbed him of every dry speck. Just because the fire people had burned down his hut again, the few extra drops didn't bother him.
It continued to rain until late at night. Then it was suddenly quiet, the tapping on the wooden roof had stopped. The sudden silence startled me from my reverie.
I saw how Numico and Retsj were talking. How fortunate that it rained last night, this had ensured that the warmth of the day had not completely disappeared, as on the nights when the stars were clear.
It was far too big a risk to start a fire here, so that little bit of extra warmth was very welcome. Retsj turns his head and puts his enormous finger to his lips.
During this trip, I had often been amazed by the exceptionally good hearing of this enormous man but there didn't seem to be anything to hear this time.
I was about to say something about what awaited us when I heard a soft cracking sound.
