Hi hivers! Today I bring you a review of a movie that I didn't give a dime for and I ended up liking it more than I expected. The poster ended up winning me over and the subject matter of the movie was somewhat suggestive coming from Netflix.

I thought it was a silly biopic of a star of one of my passions: porn. I think a lot of people are embarrassed to say they like that kind of sexual content, but everyone does or has at one time or another so it doesn't matter. For some years now there have been many well-known companies doing porn professionally that have overcome a number of obstacles and scandals like the one this film is about.

Brent Corrigan is a household name in the gay porn world, he has his own film company and is arguably one of the most famous porn actors in the world. However I knew nothing of his history, much less his beginnings and Brent gave a statement that rejected the realization of this film, however this film is not autobiographical only focuses on an event in his life but it is enough to put us in context, in the midst of a high sexual content.

Although I must say that the film has exploited that theme very well and has done it so perfectly that at times I forgot it was on Netflix. But well I'm not going to give you too much ahead so you can read the review otherwise this post would be pointless.

¡Hola hivers! hoy les traigo una reseña de una película por la que no daba ni un centavo y me termino gustando más de lo que esperaba. El poster me termino convenciendo y la temática de la película era algo sugerente viniendo de Netflix.

Creí que era una biografía tonta de una estrella de una de mis pasiones: el porno. Creo que mucha gente se avergüenza de decir que les gusta ese tipo de contenido sexual, pero todos lo hacen o lo han hecho alguna vez así que no importa. Desde hace algunos años hay muchas compañías reconocidas que hacen porno de manera profesional han que han vencido una serie de obstáculos y escándalos como el que trata esta película.

Brent Corrigan es un nombre conocido en el mundo del porno gay, tiene su propia empresa de filmación y se puede decir que es uno de los actores porno más famosos del mundo. Sin embargo no sabía nada de su historia ni mucho menos de sus comienzos Y Brent dio unas declaraciones que rechazaban la realización de esta este film, sin embargo esta película no es autobiográfica solo se centra en un acontecimiento de su vida pero es suficiente para ponernos en contexto, en medio de un alto contenido sexual.

Aunque debo decir que la película ha explotado muy bien ese tema y lo ha hecho tan perfectamente que por momentos se me olvidaba que estaba en Netflix. Pero bueno no les voy a adelantar mucho para que lean la reseña sino este post no tendría sentido.

King Cobra is an American film released in 2016 directed by Justin Kelly under the production of James Franco, the scripts were written by Justin Kelly and has a running time of 92 minutes. It stars James Franco, Garrett Clayton, Christian Slater, Keegan Allen, Alicia Silverstone, Molly Ringwald, Sean Grandillo and Spencer Lofranco among others.

Music and cinematography were provided by Tim Kvasnosky and Benjamin Loeb respectively. The film is based on the book "Cobra Killer" by Andrew E. Stoner and Peter A. Conway.

King Cobra es una película estadounidense estrenada en 2016 dirigida por Justin Kelly bajo la producción de James Franco, los guiones fueron escritos por Justin Kelly y cuenta con una duración de 92 minutos. Cuenta con la participación protagonica de figuras como James Franco, Garrett Clayton, Christian Slater, Keegan Allen, Alicia Silverstone, Molly Ringwald, Sean Grandillo y Spencer Lofranco entre otros.

La música y la fotografía estuvieron a cargo de Tim Kvasnosky y Benjamin Loeb respectivamente. La película está basada en el libro “Asesino de la cobra” de Andrew E. Stoner y Peter A. Conway.

The story centers on Stephen (Christian Slater), a guy in his forties who makes a living doing gay porn in the basement of his house. One day he auditions a new guy he meets and names him Brent Corrigan (Garret Clayton). The boy lies about his age and claims to be 18 when in reality he is still underage, but he is handsome, and this convinces Stephen who immediately becomes interested in him, both sexually and financially because of his talent for porn. After "Brent" shows off his talent to the camera after a casting class, Stephen convinces him to move into his house and begins producing porn films on a large scale that become an instant hit. Soon Brent becomes a sensation and Stephen starts making enough money to buy himself a Maserati.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, there is a relationship between 2 men who have another porn video production company and are competing to be the most successful within the gay audience. Joe (James Franco), a toxic ex-evangelical who manipulates his boyfriend Harlow (Keegan Allen), a sweet boy with a lot of childhood trauma, whom he treats like a slave and forces to prostitute himself to other men but goes crazy with jealousy every time he thinks his boyfriend will leave him for someone else. Joe also has a lifestyle that makes the production company almost go bankrupt so he has to look for new stars for his porn videos.

That's how they fatally contact Brent who has realized how much Stephen exploits him, how little he earns and decides to quit. Everything seems to shine for a young Brent, everyone loves him and all the producers want to do porn with the twink superstar of the moment but there is a small problem: the producers want him under the name Brent Corrigan which is not his real name and which belongs to Stephen, who threatens to take legal action to anyone who decides to work with Brent unless the star comes back to him. Once the psychopathic duo Joe and Harlow learn of this obstacle in their plans with Brent, they decide to kill Stephen which will unleash the fears of Brent who bravely makes them covertly confess to the crime they committed.

La historia se centra en Stephen (Christian Slater), un tipo de unos cuarenta años que se gana la vida haciendo porno gay en el sótano de su casa. Un día hace una prueba a un chico nuevo al que conoce y le pone por nombre Brent Corrigan (Garret Clayton). El chico miente con su edad y dice tener 18 años cuando en realidad todavía es menor de edad, pero es guapo, y esto convence a Stephen quien inmediatamente se siente interesado por él, tanto sexual como en su financieramente debido a su talento para el porno. Luego de que "Brent" muestre su talento a la cámara después de una clase casting, Stephen lo convence para que se mude a su casa y comienza a producir películas porno a gran escala que se convierten en un éxito instantáneo. Pronto Brent se convierte en una sensación y Stephen comienza a ganar suficiente dinero como para comprarse un Maserati.

Mientras tanto, en el otro extremo de la ciudad, hay una relación entre 2 hombres que tienen otra productora de videos porno y están compitiendo por ser la más exitosa dentro del publico homosexual. Joe (James Franco), un ex evangélico toxico que manipula a su novio Harlow (Keegan Allen), un chico dulce con muchos traumas en su infancia, al que trata como un esclavo y al que obliga a prostituirse con otros hombres pero se vuelve loco de celos cada vez que piensa que su novio lo dejara por otra persona. Asimismo Joe tiene un estilo de vida que hace que la productora casi llegue a la ruina por lo que se ve en la necesidad de buscar nuevas estrellas para sus videos porno.

Así es como fatalmente contactan con Brent quien se ha dado cuenta de lo mucho que lo explota Stephen, de las pocas ganancias que recibe y decide dejarlo. Todo parece brillar para un joven Brent, todos lo aman y todos los productores quieren hacer porno con la superestrella twink del momento pero hay un pequeño problema: los productores lo quieren bajo el nombre de Brent Corrigan el cual no es su verdadero nombre y el cual le pertenece a Stephen, quien amenaza con emprender acciones legales a cualquiera que decida trabajar con Brent a menos que la estrella vuelva con él. Una vez que el dúo de psicópatas Joe y Harlow se enteran de este obstáculo en sus planes con Brent, deciden matar a Stephen lo que desatara los miedos de Brent quien valientemente los hace confesar de manera encubierta el crimen que cometieron.

Movie

𝕸𝖞 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎𝖔𝖓

Is King Cobra a real movie or a Hollywood porn movie? Some fans and its creators will surely be with the former however, most of us will surely consider it to be the latter and that's not exactly a negative thing at least not for me.

The type of content with heavy doses of sex and softcore type violence, that King Cobra offers is not new in fact, these types of movies have been around at least since restrictions and censorship eased in the late 1960s. At that time, they were screened only in the so-called grindhouses. It was in the 80's when they were really massified; although few were shown in theaters, most of them were destined to digital sales and cable television. But they were never professionally produced with few exceptions, such as "Cruising" a William Friedkin film.

Undoubtedly the best thing about the film is the actors, especially the very handsome Garret Clayton makes a good impression as Brent. The work of this actor managed to capture the essence of the real life Brent. Although I must say that back then the porn actor didn't look as adult as Clayton seemed to be, in fact the real one looked more like a teenager but at the end of the day it's a movie and not everything has to be as is, I liked it.

¿King Cobra Es una película de verdad o una película porno Hollywoodense? Algunos fans y sus creadores seguramente estarán con la primera sin embargo, la mayor parte de nosotros seguramente considerará que es lo segundo y eso no es precisamente algo negativo al menos no para mí.

El tipo de contenido con grandes dosis de sexo y violencia de tipo softcore, que ofrece King Cobra no es nuevo de hecho, este tipo de películas ha existido al menos desde que disminuyeron las restricciones y la censura a finales de los años sesenta. En esa época, se proyectaban solamente en los llamados grindhouses, Fue en los años 80’s cuando realmente se masificaron; aunque pocas se lograron ver en los cines, la gran mayoría quedo destinada a la venta digital y a la televisión por cable. Pero nunca fueron producidas de manera profesional con pocas excepciones, como "Cruising" una película de William Friedkin.

Sin duda alguna lo mejor de la película son sus actores sobre todo el guapísimo Garret Clayton causa una buena impresión actuando como Brent. El trabajo de este actor logró capturar la esencia del Brent de la vida real. Aunque debo decir que en ese entonces el actor porno no lucia tan adulto como parecía estar Clayton, de hecho el verdadero se veía más adolescente pero al fin y al cabo es una película y no todo tiene que ser tal cual, a mí me gusto.

The women also shined in this film especially Molly Ringwald (as Stephen's sister) and Alicia Silverstone (as Brent's mother and who I have loved since Clueless) it is clear how committed they both were to their roles. However, there would be no movie without the great performance of Christian Slater in the role of Stephen who we know from Mr. Robot, the actor manages to endow the character with the inner conflict and despair that the real victim named Bryan Kocis must have lived through.

But if I had to choose the best actor in the whole movie I could not fail to mention the great James Franco, this guy is so talented, multifaceted and incredible as an actor that I could believe his character from the beginning, he is a familiar face to me since Spiderman but lately I have seen him in films with more complex themes, Franco has built his career with many roles and films of different genres, and what makes me most curious is that he has paid special attention to queer themed films. In King Cobra, he plays a sleazy porn producer in which there is no modesty of any kind, he and his boyfriend in the film Harlow brilliantly played by Keegan Allen steal the movie.

*King Cobra is a different film from every point of view, it is difficult to get films of this type to reach the masses, but with the enormous changes that the world of film and television is experiencing nowadays, maybe in a few years the cinema will be different and I think we are already close to that. When dealing with a real event it is much more important to keep the story as believable as possible and they achieved that with a dream cast and a supreme script.

Las mujeres también brillaron en este filme sobre todo Molly Ringwald (como la hermana de Stephen) y Alicia Silverstone (como la madre de Brent y a quien amo desde Clueless) es claro lo comprometidas que ambas estuvieron con sus roles. Sin embargo, no habría película sin la gran actuación de Christian Slater en el papel de Stephen a quien conocemos por Mr. Robot, el actor logra dotar al personaje del conflicto interior y la desesperación que debió vivir la verdadera victima llamada Bryan Kocis.

Pero si me tocara elegir al mejor actor en toda la película no podría dejar de mencionar al gran James Franco, este tipo es tan talentoso, polifacético e increíble como actor que pude creer su personaje desde el principio, él es una cara conocida para mi desde Spiderman pero últimamente lo he visto en películas de temáticas más complejas, Franco ha construido su carrera con muchos papeles y películas de géneros diferentes, y lo que más me genera curiosidad es que le ha prestado una especial atención a las películas de temáticas queer. En King Cobra, interpreta a un sórdido productor de cine porno en el cual no existe pudor de ningún tipo, él y su novio en la película Harlow genialmente interpretado por Keegan Allen se roban la película.

King Cobra es una película diferente desde todo punto de vista, es difícil conseguir que se hagan filmes de este tipo que lleguen a grandes masas, pero con los enormes cambios que está experimentando el mundo del cine y la televisión actualmente, puede que en unos años el cine sea otro y creo que ya estamos cerca de eso. Al tratar un hecho real es mucho más importante mantener la historia lo más creíble posible y lo lograron con un cast soñado y con un guion supremo.

Brent Corrigan was just a minor when he started doing porn and one man saw the business opportunity he was looking for come true, involving 2 things that can never mix: sex and work. But there is something about this piece that makes it irresistible if you don't know the real story and that is that the ending was perhaps not what you expected, a dramatic twist and a crime change the tone of the film and suddenly it is no longer gay porn but a vile murder.

This is not a film for all audiences, there is a lot of sex and violence spiced with drama and a great script especially enjoyable if your mind is open, I liked it enough to give it a 8/10.

Brent Corrigan era solo un menor de edad cuando comenzó a hacer porno y un hombre vio la oportunidad de negocios que buscaba hecha realidad, involucrando 2 cosas que nunca se pueden mezclar: el sexo y el trabajo. Pero hay algo en esta pieza que la hace irresistible sino conoces la historia real y es que el final quizás no era el que esperabas, un giro dramático y un crimen cambian el tono de la película y de repente ya no es porno gay sino un vil asesinato.

Este largometraje no es una película para todo público, hay mucho sexo y violencia aderezados con drama y un gran guion especialmente disfrutable si tu mente es abierta, a mí me gusto lo suficiente como para darle un 8/10.
