We are many persons at home and abroad that are wondering about how Oddvar Braa could brake the ski rod in 1982 in the relay for Norway. He had the final stage, and was ready to lead the Norwegian team to gold.
Oddvar Braa was competing against Aleksandr Zavjalov coming from the Soviet Union on the last stage in the relay for men in Oslo in 1982. It was the World Championships. Today, Oddvar Baa is 69 years old, and Aleksandr Zavjalov is 65 years old. Hence, these guys were around 30 years when running the relay for the national teams. Oddvar Braa was exposed to drama. He broke the ski rod just before the end of the relay, and some person had to give him a new ski rod! On the run it was evenly it ended with split gold, and in this year we also got shared 3rd place between Finland and East Germany!
When Oddvar Braa approached the goal in 1982, the commentator said: Oddvar, you cannot lose this battle and fight! So, go on, and win the relay! And we find this crucial moment on videos on the internet today. So, going into the internet, you see that it was drama in 1982, and although Oddvar Braa broke the rod, he and Aleksandr Zavjalov were convicted equally in the goal. And, there have been many discussions afterwards about who was first over the finish line. But today, we claim that Oddvar Braa was first with something, and Aleksandr Zavjalov was first with other things in his body. We are always using our bodies to breath and move, and we are using our bodies to work in many places. And competence and long education is the carrot to success in working life today.
Oddvar Braa is coming from the county Troendelag, and he speaks like a real troender. Being on the national team in cross-country skiing is really a tough decision to take for yourself, and the persons being there from time to time are our best men and women! The persons running the relay for men for Norway in 1982 were Lars Erik Eriksen, Ove Aunli, Paal Gunnar “Plassen” Mikkelsplass and Oddvar Braa! Many people enjoyed this moment for Norway, and people were enthusiastic from their living rooms. And the competition is tough to be on the national team, and you need to do your best with all the efforts you make and have!
We find the people running this relay for Norway at different places and in different situations today. And they are friendly, and we love their ways of being, and their human nature as it is. And anyone knows that there is a cry for competence several places, and we should always focus on our strenghts and opportunities to make the working places and the organizations to even better places. The main point is what you know, and what can be done with these knowledges. But competing is a tough decision, and you need to defend your family, your friends and your honor. And motivation and coaching are always wanted forces, but we should be competent with giving the advice to the internal and external markets! Good luck to everybody!
