Follow Friday: Vote early, vote often

The News

I am not sure anyone really wants to look at the price charts lately. Since the start of the year it has been mostly downhill. Somehow Justin's baby has been fairly stable, but I have no idea what goes on there. I do not really worry too much about $HIVE. I know that good things are happening here and that it is not likely to go away any time soon. The Hive platforms is about much more than money to me and many others. This is our online community. I have plenty of friends here that I do not connect to elsewhere and my posts get great engagement.

When I am talking about voting I do not just mean on posts. That is important though. You are showing support for people and will get rewarded for doing so. Curation is a superpower here as both sides of the vote benefit. I would encourage people to use their HP themselves even if they automate it. By all means follow the trail of someone you trust to vote well. It should not just be about following the big accounts and you may even earn better by not doing that as you are competing with many others.

Other forms of voting here are on witnesses and proposals. You can vote for 30 witnesses and as many proposals as you like. All the small votes can add up to something significant.

You can support Hive in other ways. On TheDappList you can vote for Hive projects and @coldbeetrootsoup are coordinating that. I did vote some up last week, but I had some issues logging in today. You can use various crypto wallets and I used the one built into the Brave browser.

Vote it up!

On Coingecko you can show how you feel about coins. Someone is downvoting $HIVE, so it needs some support. You do not need to log in to do that, but you can only vote every few days. You can do the same on CoinMarketCap once each day.

Friday Follows

  • @arcange is behind many cool Hive projects. He does a monthly stats post, that is a little late this month, with lots of details of where we stand. It could be better really. We need lots more active people here. on HiveBuzz you can check your own ranking by various criteria.
  • @brofund have thoughts on various things around crypto that you may find interesting. Share your opinions.
  • @detlev has been here running the beer contests for many years. He is involved with @worldmappin now. I have met up with him at many of the Hivefest events and we once met when he was over in London and of course we had a beer or three.
  • @arseniclullaby is a comic artist who shares his thoughts with us not and then. He knows that industry well and has strong opinions about it. I bought some of his works that can be quite dark.

The Dog House

There has been a lot of talk about vote buying recently. In the early days of this chain it was a big business and seemed to be widely accepted, but that has not been the case since we became Hive. People want rewards to be about merit. Of course people can do what they like, but some will enforce their opinions with downvotes. There are shades of grey with this, but if you are having to pay to get the majority of the rewards on your posts then you are doing it wrong. You need to build an audience of actual people and that will take work. It will be more satisfying in terms of engagement though. You have to seek out those who share your interests. That could be via communities and you can create your own for a small fee.

The End

What will you be doing for Hive in 2025? It really cannot be all about self-promotion as we need more active people. You can encourage those who are not getting much engagement and make others aware of them. You can talk about Hive with your friends. I know it can be hard as crypto can have a bad reputation. Get to some events if you can, and if there is nothing nearby then organise one. If you get a few people together talking about Hive then cool things can happen.

Hive five!
