What Inspires You To Steem On?

Over the (almost) 20 months since I've been on Steemit, I've seen many people come and go, many people come and stay. Some take a short break every now and then, some take long breaks or leave the platform and some manage to post regularly. Recently I realized that a couple of people I enjoyed reading and interacting with haven't posted in months. I can't help but wonder why and I still have hopes they will come back. On the other side, there's also a couple of them who have been more active lately and those are again, some of my favorite people on this platform.

I, personally, went through periods of time where I would post constantly, every single day, sometimes I would create more that one post per day and then I would get so uninspired that coming up with even a few simple sentences would seem impossible. Luckily, those "down" times usually wouldn't last long but this year, during the spring I was at a very bad place (mentally) and I really needed to take some time to get my sh*t together.

I understand that sometimes we all need to take a break or life just gets in a way or we want to focus more on something else - I won't really go into details of why someone takes a break or leaves Steemit for good. But same way I wonder why this happens, I also wonder what keeps you, Steemians, motivated and inspired to keep writing, sharing, interacting and coming back to this platform.

I will list a few reasons why I am still here:

1. Expressing myself

Steemit really became a place where I can express myself in a way I feel most comfortable with even though I still feel like I'm not ready to share my posts with my friends and family. I don't know what it is, maybe somewhere deep inside of me I have a fear of being judged or they would find what I do/share here weird... I think this is a subject for another post. :) So Steemit pretty much became a place where I share different parts of my life, my thoughts and even some poems occasionally... I also started to play around with simple video creations that I really enjoy making.

2. Finding like-minded people

One of the best things about Steemit is that I feel like I've found my tribe! :D So many like-minded people I got to connect with and who became my friends is a precious thing. There are some topics I can't talk about with anyone in my "real life" because nobody is interested in them, so when I read a post about it and I can totally relate to someone - it's an amazing feeling!

3. Being more open-minded

I love learning about other people's lifestyles, culture, places, the way people think, what they are passionate about... Since Steemit gathers people from all over the world, variety here is truly incredible and so inspiring! You can always learn something new and you can get inspired to even try something new - I still believe that I would never, ever write poems if it wasn't for a few people on Steemit (especially @hazem91 <3).

4. Earnings

Making some money doing what you like and what you're passionate about is a great thing! I always say that each journey is different, some people start making a decent amount from the beginning, for some people it takes a lot more time. For me, money was never my number one reason I post but I took it as an award for the time and effort I've put in here for the past 20 months. I appreciate every amount I earn, even if it's a few cents and with everything in life, I try to remind myself of one powerful quote I've read long time ago and it goes something like this: "If you're not happy with what you have now, what makes you think you deserve more?"

Stay positive, take a little break every now and then if you feel like you need it, find your source of inspiration, re-charge, stay grateful and true to yourself. I would love to hear what inspires you to keep posting on Steemit?
