I have been wanting to write another more detailed Introduction Post for quite some time now, especially now since there a lot more Users joining Steemit. (This isn't going to change for very long time until we get the same amount of Users Facebook has)
Now I have had plenty of chances to talk about myself, however in this post I'm going to get more detailed about my life
So where do I begin? Well first of all, I would like take some time to thank the whole Steemit Community! There are some of you that have Upvoted my Posts, I'm glad that you did so because to be honest the Financial Incentive was enough to get me writing, but my generally Interest in Cryptocurrency has got me motivated to join this Revolutionary Social Platform in the first place but if it weren't for any of your upvotes, I doubt I would be as active on Steemit. Before I continue, everyone should get to more about my background to get better idea of the person behind @steemitguide account
My name is Sven Haake, a 22 year old German/Malay currently living here in Penang, Malaysia where I have been here for officially 12 years. Previously we moved from Germany, due to fact that we no longer felt home after the event of my Father passing away due to Cancer. Being part of small Family of 3 with me being the eldest Brother, we decided to move back to Malaysia, a South East Asian Country, it's here where I grew up most of my life
Since we moved here, Life seems to have ups & downs however we seem to manage till now and we are content with life, happy with what we have now while the future may be uncertain, due to our Financial situation. We pretty much spend most of our money over the following years, this has got us to look for various ways to make money especially my Mother who take up all sorts of Jobs to support the family
After some time, we had the idea to run a Guest House turning our quiet home into a sort of Homestay, where Travelers can rent a private room and we would share the accommodation with others. We worked Hard and determination allowed us to be able to earn enough from 1 Guests House in order to sustain life here, without venturing into this business we would have been forced to move
In fact, the Guest House business is so successful that we have our place now instead of having to share our Home, this is because we had little to no privacy with thousands of different Travellers from all over the world staying with us! Most of them are really nice but there are occasion where you have horrific Guests who try their best to make life a living hell, being a Host means you have to sacrifice some quality of life
Having settled down in Penang, I attended School until taking my Diploma at College. Now in debt to my Country due to the fact that I have taken out a loan to pursue a Business Diploma, I have been looking for numerous ways to earn a living online in order to support not only my Lifestyle but also my Family. My next goal is to finish my Degree, with the plan of moving to Germany where Education and Welfare money is a good incentive & reason to move back
Standard of Living in Malaysia is quite reasonable for a developing Asian Country, Good Healthcare is affordable and Food in Penang, is relatively cheap. The Neighbourhood where I live could be considered a more developed area of the Island, also known for being the top tourist destination among Travellers. Eden Estate, is the open Residential Neighbourhood in Batu Ferringhi, where were able to capitalise on the Opportunity to start a Guest House by renting out our Home to Travelers, however moving to a completely new area means a lot of Uncertainty knowing that we can't do a Guest house everywhere we plan to go in order to earn some money
We discovered platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, Tripadvisor and many more, while they helped us establish our Guest House business they have also given me headaches at some point. These Corporations are pretty much middleman who charge not only their Guests but also their Clients a commission on every sale you get, it's not cheap you know! 5-15% Commission Fee is charged based on the number of Nights
While there are millions of people using their Platforms, it does make sense to sign up with them in order to get greater exposure of your Services to travellers who might be interested and willing to rent a room from you. Once thing is for sure, my Mother and me, know how to run a Guest House properly where you can expect the cleanest rooms and excellent service like no other, no wonder we won Booking.com Award 2016 for top Guest House in Batu Ferringhi . You see, we have had thousands of different faces from around the world visit our Guest house and I almost recommend all of them to go check out Steemit, since we target more of a Backpacker crowd, who seem to be quite interested in the idea of decentralized Blogging Platform!
I actually discovered Steemit in the beginning of last year, and consider myself one of the first few users to actively engage in the Community, just check out my 750 Followers & 1000+ Posts (2 Milestones to Celebrate, I'm officially more Popular on Steemit than on Facebook)
I talk highly of Steemit because it has been good to me, but the most profound impact this platform had on me yet, is the fact that I somewhat enjoy Writing! The new generation of youth, is really in trouble! Almost all my Friends, are glued to their phone with Apps like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat running 24 hours in the background, but the best part is they rarely interact with community besides occasionally uploading a picture or status
There is a lot to be done, and I would like to say I'm here for the long-run where the Future is bright for Steemit. It's great to have received upvotes from the founder himself Ned, to receive payouts for Interacting and creating new meaningful relationships online and to grow a Fanbase through the power of Crowdsourced Marketing.
I hope the Steemit Community, is happy to have me as I'm more than willing to contribute because it's truly a Community where I feel that I belong, I will continue to promote Steemit with plans of creating a Poster to be displayed in my Guest House.
