First page is a simple collage with a mini calendar that serves as a quick overview of the month and a quote from the book I've read few months ago. Second page is another calendar type of spread, with some room left for the events, birthdays, appointments or anything important.
Next page is split in two sections - expenses and highlights of the month. I like to track my expenses just to see where my money goes and I also like to have a spot to write down the best moments of the month, this can be anything from an inside joke with my friends, movie I've seen that really made an impact on me, what I've been listening, a quote or memorable events, night outs etc. On another page I have my habit tracker which is one of my favorite parts of bullet journaling. Here you can put anything that you want to focus on that month or just simply to see where you're at with a certain habit. If you're wondering why there an empty box, that's where I'll write down how many coffees I'm having each day. :)
One more page also split in two is for my focus of the month and brain dump. For this year I've decided to pick one thing for each month to focus on. This doesn't mean I have to do it every single day, I just want to see how doing or not doing a certain thing affects my life. For January I picked reading and I managed to read 3 and a half books with a total number of 898 pages. For February my focus will be spending less time on Social Media. Brain dump is a small place for any random thoughts or ideas. Often I write down some ideas for Steemit posts here. Finally, we have the first 9 days of Febraury and I will continue making this spread for every upcoming week. In the column I'm going to write down anything that is important for the day and I also have some room for daily/weekly to-do lists or anything else I want to add.
Top 3 reasons why I love bullet journaling
1. You can keep it minimal or get creative with it
Depending on your mood and time available, you can keep it very simple and minimal or you can get creative and turn it into a mini piece of art. I like to cut out some images from the magazines, add some quotes here and there, decorate with washi tapes... If you have a nice handwriting you can also use that as a decoration. There's so many options! Personally, I really enjoy taking time to do this while I listen to some calming music and have a cup of coffee or tea - it's like a free therapy. :)
2. It is afordable
All you really need is any kind of notebook and any kind of pen. For this year's bullet journal I decided to orded one from a planner brand here in Serbia and I also have some different colored pens but for the most part all I used was a simple, cheap notebook, a pen and sometimes my really old ruler. I would suggest starting with the basics and then, if you find out that this system work for you, maybe investing in a nicer notebook, pens, stickers or whatever you like. You can also print out some inspiring photos from the Internet or the ones you took or cut them out from old magazines like I do.
3. You can use it according to your needs
Since the pages are blank and dates are not set for the entire year in advance, like in the planners you buy, you make daily/weekly spreads as time goes on and based on your needs or you can skip it if you don't feel like bullet journaling at all for that day/week/month. Nothing is "set in stone" so if you don't feel the need for it or you're just too busy, you can just skip it for as long as you want and get back to it whenever you want. I remember having planners for the entire year already set and sometimes I would go a month or two without using it, mostly during the summer time/breaks. Then I would feel guilty for wasting it.
