I'll probably buy another car in a couple of years to replace my petrol driven Hyundai i10. That's a good little car that gets me to work with reasonable economy. I am thinking that my next car should be electric as they are getting cheaper and more viable. There is the option of a hybrid like this Kia Optima, but I'm loath to take on another car with an internal combustion engine. They just have so much to go wrong and need lots of servicing. I would be able to the in town part of my commute mostly on electric, which has to be more efficient with lots of stop/start in traffic.
The Hyundai Ioniq is looking attractive. It has well over 100 miles of range and is a lot cheaper than that Kia. My commute is around 80 miles for the round trip, so I want to have something to spare after that. I'd very rarely drive much further. I'd be making big savings on fuel and servicing. I do also want to be greener and that is a factor in what I buy next.
I know there are those who say they need to be able to drive 500 miles in a day, but they are a tiny minority and a hybrid may work for them. I'll keep watching the market to see what else comes out.
