Don't get me anything for Christmas. A seasonal song on ukulele

I felt the need to write a Christmas song and this is what I came up with. I'm against all the commercialisation of Christmas. I'm not religious, but it can still be a time for the family to get together. As an adult I don't feel a great need for presents.

I've not played the uke in a while and my dodgy right hand almost gave up on me. I've included the lyrics below so that you can sing along.

Don’t get me anything for Christmas

Christmas is a time that we all look forward to
So get the telly on and we'll all watch Dr Who
There's Strictly and the Queen's speech to fall asleep to
But a Xmas get-together is what we always do

I kind of dread the presents, I may get some old tat
Like an unfunny jokebook or a novelty Xmas hat
So let me state my position, it's simple as it's true
I want to make it clear, so I'm saying this to you

Just Don't get me anything for Xmas
I just don't need another DVD
Or xmas socks and jumpers that are useless most the year
You can Give all the money to your favourite charity

Why stress out every year about what what to buy the folks
They probably have all they need in hankies and in soap
This buying frenzy every year is driven by the shops
So let this be the year when the madness finally stop

So don't get me anything for Xmas
I'll never read that book about Brexit
I'd rather that you bought yourself a gift that makes you happy
The last thing that this world needs is tons of plastic shit

Now Boxing day has come and the weather's looking good
Let's go for a long walk, to work off all that food
Let's just enjoy our company and the glory of nature
we don't need all of that commercial manure

Don't get me anything for Xmas
I'm running out of room for all my stuff
Sing me a song or bake me cookies
But all I really want from you is love

And if you think that I'm the Grinch
then sod you one and all
