This is an original song I wrote this week. It was inspired by an interview I was listening to in the car just as I drove past Ikea and the chorus popped into my head. I worked out a lot of it on that drive and had to write it down when I got home. It's simple chords, but I hope to work on that for future songs.
I wanna live in Ikea
Now we all dream of the perfect house
Where everything’s designed to look nice
But it’s hard to achieve that in real life
When it becomes a big mess in a trice
I wanna live in Ikea
Where the books are in Swedish and the TVs don’t work
And there’s millions of lights and a table called Bjork
I wanna live in Ikea
I’d sleep in a different bed each night
‘Til I find a mattress that’s right
And I’d eat my dinner on a different chair
Under a different light
I wanna live in Ikea
Where the toilets aren’t plumbed in and the cookers lack gas
But the restaurant’s there and the loos for a slash
Where a game of hide and seek could last for a week
There’s the restaurant for food and the loos for a leak
I wanna live in Ikea
And when the zombie apocalypse comes down
And riots break out all over town
Then I’ll lock myself up in the Ikea store
With enough tea lights to last the third world war
I wanna live in Ikea
With thousands of pencils to write down my thoughts
And a plethora of coffee tables and forks
And as many meatballs as you can consume
And a stack of cushions that could reach to the moon
I wanna live in Ikea
I wanna live in Ikea
I wanna live in Ikea
I wanna live in Ikea
