Snowflakes Are Useful Idiots #25: Evergreen, Evergreen, Wherefore Art Thou, Evergreen?

“When we are dead, when people die, and you are sitting here like, ‘Well, at least they got to practice their free speech,’ I am so sorry about it, your free speech is not more important than the lives of like black, trans, fems, and students on this campus,” a student named Jamil said. “I am so sorry; hate to break it to you.”

You have to feel sorry for the Evergreen College Kinderkiddies...even the Supreme Court is picking on the poor babies. As Rich Lowry explains, SCOTUS upheld the right of a band to call itself 'The Slants', in spite of the self-righteous leftist bureaucrats in the United States Patent & Trademark Office. In short, it was a massive victory for the First Amendment, and doubtless a huge blow to the Evergreen kinderkiddies insistance that anything said in opposition to their infantile fascism must be "hate speech."

(Sorry, kinderkiddies, but you suck.)

Meanwhile, a Pennsylvania High School, either too stupid or too stubborn to respect the same First Amendment rights enjoyed by "The Slants," ignored U.S. Department of Justice guidelines and ordered a graduating student to remove religious expression from her graduation remarks...which only goes to prove that fascism is alive and well in our school systems.

Trigger Warning: The language used by Evergreen Kinderkiddies in the following video is not fit for tiny ears:

  • AllahPundit: Video: The “Anti-Fascist” Fascist Freak Show At Evergreen State
  • The most pitiful creature here isn’t one of the young thoughtpolicemen from the Mos Eisley protest collective. It’s George Bridges, the president of the college, who looks and sounds every inch a hostage. Which is what he was, literally: Moynihan reminds him that he was effectively taken prisoner by activists, replete with an escort to the bathroom when nature called. Why did you think they insisted on escorting you, Moynihan asks? “I don’t know,” says Bridges, pathetically. Well, did you ask them, Moynihan retorts? Says Bridges, “No. Of course not.” There’s great weight in that “of course not.” His job requires him to co-exist with these cretins so he bends over backwards to soothe them by minimizing what they’ve done and trying to see things from their point of view. But the “of course not” gives the game away: At base this is a power play and he knows where the power on campus resides. You don’t ask the authorities why they’re escorting you to take a leak, especially when you’re not sure what they’re capable of. He published a column a few days ago vowing to get tough on students who threaten others’ free-speech rights, but after watching this it’s impossible to believe he means what he says.

  • Jackson, Dan: VIDEO: Fascist thugs attack free speech rally at Evergreen State
  • Masked antifa thugs assaulted peaceful demonstrators at a free speech rally at Evergreen State College Thursday night, but were quickly subdued by police officers wearing riot gear.
The school's president, George Bridges, has heretofore ordered his own officers to stand down in the face of mob action by students, but did not prevent officers from maintaining order in this situation.
  • Lowry, Rich: Yes, Hate Speech Is Free Speech
  • With the Left feverishly attempting to squash unwelcome speech on college campuses, with the president of the United States musing about tightening libel laws, with prominent liberals asserting that so-called hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment, free speech in America at least has one reliable friend — the Supreme Court of the United States.
  • O'Neil, Tyler: Pa. School District Forces Student to Cut Faith, Prayer from Graduation Speech
  • When a graduating senior at a Pennsylvania high school submitted her planned remarks for a graduation speech, she received an email response, saying any references to faith in her proposed speech were "not permissible by federal law."
But the school district was wrong — Bridges wasn't breaking the law, the school district was! Not only does the First Amendment protect Bridges' free speech, but the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) set forth clear guidelines specifying that religious expression at graduation ceremonies is indeed acceptable.
  • Urbanski, Dave: ‘F*** free speech’: Evergreen State students double down, want to ‘weed out’ those who oppose them
  • While the fun of summer is but a day away, Evergreen State College‘s radical students still appear focused on their apparent mission of silencing those who stand up for freedom of speech and vigorous debate.
As documented in a new video by Vice News/HBO, students at the Olympia, Washington, school are doubling down, saying they want to “weed out” those who oppose them. As one student bluntly put it, reacting to outside threats: “F*** free speech.”
