"...it is undeniable that there is a growing authoritarian, anti-free speech, anti-conservative, and, frankly, anti-science, movement happening in American academia."--Clay Routeledge |

John Sexton has written a solid piece analyzing the self-serving justifications for campus violence published by three Evergreen State Kindergarten faculty members. Just when you think the lefties couldn't possibly act more stupidly...
One of their points alleges a “pattern of right-wing attacks on racial equity in higher education,” along with supporting blather from cultural Marxist rags like the Huffing & Puffington Post. Apparently, their feelings have been hurt because non-snowflakes are not amused by continuing evidence of leftist indoctrination of their children. imagine that.

Speaking of progressive stupidity, the University of San Francisco has planned a segregated orientation session for black students. More than fifty years after the Selma marches, segregation is no longer being condemned for the evil it represents, but rather embraced in American universities.
USF thus joins the University of Toronto, Harvard University, Emory and Henry College, the University of Delaware and Columbia in hosting segregated "diversity" graduation ceremonies. Snopes claims that Harvard did not organize this segregated event, and that it was planned by black students. Whatever. The very thought of fostering segregated events defames and demeans the good people of the Sixties' Civil Rights movement, Dr. King and all.
Apparently, black students have problems and issues that other students do not...or something. Can "How to be an effective victim 101" be far behind?
Vassar, long famed as an outstanding university for women, now stands front and center in solidarity with USF, San Jose State and other schools that have announced involuntary leftist indoctrination programs for incoming freshman, as they announced workshops focussed “on celebrating identities and affirming belongingness within our communities,” whatever that means.
Pathetic.

You will hardly be shocked, then, to learn that "Pew Research Center recently released survey data showing that 58% Republicans and Republican-leaning Americans believe US colleges and universities have a negative impact on our nation, a number that has been steadily increasing over the last several years," as Clay Routledge explains, then asking, What exactly have Republicans learned from conservative media? Those of you who have followed this series won't be the least surprised by his answers.

Sorry, Dr. King, but segregation is "in" again
The University of San Francisco this week is scheduled to host a segregated orientation dedicated to black students, a program that takes place in addition to its standard welcoming activities for all students.
College campuses in the United States have been hotbeds of controversy for all of the wrong reasons in recent years. The progressives who long ago took over academia have been systematically trying to destroy due process and free speech in pursuit of a far-left agenda.
This week, The Washington Post featured an opinion piece from a former Berkeley chancellor that addressed the issue and the result was a convoluted attack on all of the icky people that academics don't like.
They have learned that when the social justice agenda and truth collide, the social justice agenda typically wins. They have learned that professors who offer divergent perspectives are often ostracized and silenced, and that surveys reveal many liberal professors admit they would discriminate against a potential conservative colleague. They have learned that on many campuses conservative speakers or even liberal speakers who do not conform to far-left campus orthodoxy are routinely shouted down or shut out entirely. They have learned that far-left campus activists have destroyed property, threatened violence, and on occasion even engaged in violence with little or no penalty. They have learned that safe spaces, trigger warnings, and bias response teams are often used tactically to silence opinions not deemed sufficiently progressive. They have learned that at some colleges student governments have tried to prevent the existence of conservative student groups. They have learned that many conservative students feel they must keep their political beliefs hidden. I could keep going.
Three professors at Evergreen State College have written a defense of the school, its students and their protests. The professors are responding, in part, to Bret Weinstein and also to former Provost Michael Zimmerman who has been critical of the school in articles at Huff Post. The piece opens by criticizing Zimmerman for his failure to focus on the threat to the campus. “In nearly 8,700 words, Zimmerman couldn’t find one word to mention the threat of a massacre on his own campus, and how it created fear among students, staff, and faculty of color,” the authors write.

In case any incoming freshmen (freshpersons?) at Vassar College think that they're embarking on a four-year adventure in a world-class education, a mandatory 15-day new-student orientation that emphasizes social justice and "belongingness" should disabuse them of that notion.
All new students will be required to complete a series of three diversity-themed workshops, reports Campus Reform, that will take a total of five hours to complete.
