Open Mic Songwriters Challenge Week #1: Head Meets Mirror (Original song). Also for Open Mic 61

This is my entry for the new songwriters challange as well as the regular open mic. The songwriting challenge theme this week is 'Broken mirror'. That got me thinking and I based it on my life, although the incident described hasn't happened, yet. There's a guitar to be won in this contest, but it's over 8 weeks and I'll have to see if I can come up with songs each time.

I used the ukulele again for this as it suits comedy songs. I hope it raises some smiles. Below are the lyrics.

I have to get up early
To get to work on time
Creeping around the bedroom
My wife is sleeping fine
I need to grab my clothes
And get myself all dressed
Although is it still dark
I don’t go get depressed

I’m making for the door
I can’t turn on the light
I have to be real quiet
If I want to get it right
I didn’t see the slippers
That must have gone astray
I felt myself a’falling
And the mirror got in the way

I went down with a thump
In a shower of broken glass
It wasn’t very stylish
But I never had much class
I had to be real careful
That I didn’t cut my feet
It’s hard to look too good
When your blood is down the street

My wife woke up just then
Saying what’s the matter mate
What is all that red stuff
Running down your pate
I told her what had happened
While she was snoozing away
She said don’t be so silly
Don’t you know it’s Saturday!

I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist.

I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
