Chatswood and Crows Nest are two of our favourite place to go for lunch. Those two neighbouring suburbs are packed with eating places to choose from. Not so long ago, I saw @travelgirl's vlog about New Shangai, a Chinese restaurant in Chatswood Chase shopping centre. I have seen this restaurant several times for having worked in Artarmon for 5 years but I never actually tried it. @travelgirl's vlog motivated me to give it a try and I didn't regret it. It's now one of my favourite lunch destinations.
As you can see from the photo above, the place is very spacious. The photo is only showing one about one half or one third of the available area. The ambiance is nice, it looks like the scene of those HK martial art dramas from old times in China
Here is the kitchen area, I haven't really paid attention to this corner so I'm not sure whether or not it's the only kitchen area or if it is for specialised dishes.
Near where I was sitting there was another little room if you prefer a slightly quieter place.
There is diversity in the menu as you can see below. They also have a small selection of dim sum and dumplings which is great if you come with a little group of friends an want to share little nice things.
My colleague chose #402, the braised beef noodle soup:
I ordered #401, the Shanghai noodle soup with spicy pork, bamboo shoots & smoked tofu:
They were seriously good.
Today has been a hectic day at work. It's the last day of the sprint and we tried hard to finish a project we've been working on for the last couple of weeks in order to be able to make a demo during the sprint showcase. The effort has paid, in the end we managed to demo it to the audience. There are still minor tasks to complete but the main work is there.
I've left work too late so I will have to miss my Wu Xing Dao class this evening, that will give me more time for my jaw to recover from the punch I didn't manage to block during yesterday training hahahaha.
