STEEM-APOCALYPSE SURVIVAL GAME CONTEST - ROUND 1 - Plus the last chance to join! - 205 STEEM Prize Pool So Far

Last Chance to Join

Although some teams partnered up yesterday, I’ll allow anyone who still wants in to form a team and join today. All you have to do is find a partner and choose one of the options below. For more info on this game, read the intro post linked here.

I am choosing to have teams because each team will need to make a decision each day. I know that people get busy, so only one team member will need to respond. This way there will be coverage during an absence. Also, it encourages interaction within the community, and two heads are better than one.

The Context

You may be wondering how you and your partner wound up in a Steem-Apocalyse Survival situation in this game. I’ll give you some rough background.

First off, the world is in chaos and supplies are limited. The vast majority of the world’s population is now dead, and those still alive have found themselves in a world where many have chosen to kill or be killed. There is no power and most cities lie smoldering in ruin.

You may wonder what caused this situation to arise. Was it World War III, a nuclear holocaust, aliens? Actually, the power went out. Nobody is sure what the actual cause was, but about three months back, the power went out and it has not come back on. Within the first week Police and Paramedics stopped even trying to respond to situations. There was nowhere to take the wounded and violent anyway.

In an instant most people found themselves broke, homeless, and completely unprepared. Credit cards no longer worked and the money locked away in banks was inaccessible… not that they would help anyway. Sewers backed up within days as toilets overflowed and soon most houses were contaminated cesspools of disease. Stores were looted bare within days and whatever food was refrigerated or frozen quickly spoiled.

Those people who were on various medications quickly ran out of there supply. Many died and others who were on psychotropic medication basically ran wild. As the situation got more desperate, many people robbed and murdered one another and some even resorted to cannibalism in order to survive.

You happened to be in the United States at the time (keep this in mind as we continue for those of your playing from around the world), and thankfully you were able to locate a desolate warehouse with a decent supply of nonperishable foods. You’ve been laying low and attempting to wait it out, but nothing seems to be improving. You met your teammate about a week back and realized that you both used to be steemians when the power was still on. This kinship has built a level of mutual care and concern and even trust. Yesterday, though, you ran out of your food supply.

You’ve heard that there is supposedly an underground bunker full of supplies not too many miles away, and that it may be deserted. Your only goal is to find the food you need to survive and stay safe as you attempt to make it to the bunker. And so your adventure begins.

The First Scenario

Each team will have to eat something at least every other day, so by the end of day two (in the game-play) each team will have to have successfully digested something edible in order to continue. I understand that there may be certain dietary restrictions that some users observe based upon lifestyle or religion. I’ll try to have vegetarian options in each necessary period too, although you do not need to have your player in the game observe the same restrictions that you do if you do not want to.

As your team makes its way through the woods in search of something edible, you happen upon a snake near the edge of a long, stagnant pond. If you kill it, you’ll both be able to eat and be nourished. However, there is no way that you can successful dispose of this snake without having one member of your team get bitten. Sorry steemians, that’s just the way that it is.

Here is a photo of that snake. You can notice its wide body and the head shape. If you try to kill and eat this snake, one of you will be bitten, but both of you can eat. If the snake is venomous, one of you may be in a life-threatening situation. If the snake is not venomous, you’ll still get bit, but there will be no risk of death from the venom.

There will be at least one more opportunity to eat before the end of day two, so you do not have to kill this snake. The choice is yours.

Each team must choose to either OPTION 1 ”kill and eat the snake” or OPTION 2 ”let the snake go”. If you kill and eat the snake, your team will not need more food until sometime prior to the end of day three *game-play). Also, if you kill and eat the snake, please let me know which team member was bitten.

It is up to each team to determine if they are comfortable killing a snake, and if they think that this snake is venomous or not. Each team can decide how to proceed and reply with their choice, but any discussion below might help your competition. You can invite your teammate to share ideas on another post, or discuss it privately with one another in steemit.chat or discord, but any correct or inaccurate information shared below will not be commented on by me.
