SteemFest was great and whole travel was worth every penny! SteemFest was a possibility to meet other Steemians, but also... ask questions which are nagging you for a long time...
I asked probably hundreds of questions to many people during SteemFest, but exactly 3 questions I asked during panels. Today I would like to share with you my questions and answers from Steemit to topics which I thought are important.
Multiple Feeds
We have so many great Steem interfaces like: dDube, Zappl, dMania, Steepshot... and many many others. Every such interface bring new possibilities to Steem users, but right now when you want to use your Steemit account to use Steepshot (clone of Instagram build on top of Steem), there is a problem... you do not want to notify all your followers about what you had eaten for breakfast. Probably most of them started following you because of your articles.
So I decided to ask Steemit guys about the potential solutions:
Vision of Steemit: Blogging Platform vs. Generic Blockchain Explorer
Actually, I started asking this question almost a year ago, when SteemSports become a noticable problem for most of the Steemians. Back then many people started to asking question, whether some kind of content (then: games/betting) should be treated in a different way in comparison to articles/blogposts.
This year, we do not have big concerns about betting on Steemit, but this question is still relevant, because on the platform we have many different type of content.
Steemit right now just display stuff from Steem blockchain. It doesn't matter for Steemit whether content was post via Steepshot, dTube, dSound, etc. At the same time, many people are saying that Steemit is kinda blogging platform. Is it?
So I decided to ask, what is the vision of Steemit.com as a platform:
Votes Buying
I believe, that almost everyone on the platform noticed, that in regards of votes buying things are far from perfect. This is weird for everyone who comes to Steemit from outside. We should talk more about those issues, and... we need to develop solutions which will beat all votes-buying-services and will make them obsolete.
What @ned is thiking about votes buying?
well... that response was very diplomatic. I really think, that we (community) should take care about those issues. Steemit cannot do everything for us. This is open source platform and we should take advantage of that!
What is my opinion about that? Well... I already talked about that here in the comment, but I will paste this here as well in case you didn't read my comment:
My 0.02 SBD....
ReImplement "Promoted" feature, and make it efficient and attractive to users which now prefer to use voting bots.
Facts
- no one is looking into "promoted tab"
- "promoting tab" is not effective, therefore people are looking for more effective solutions
Solution?
- Promoted content should be mixed by default into trending page
- fact: artificially promoted content is already mixed into trending, by voting bots, but right now it is much harder to check how many of paid votes some article got
- starting from 2nd or 3rd spot on trending, every 10-15 entry on trending should be filled by promoted content
- with only a few spots on trending page, people will get proportional number of displays (impressions) in comparison to amount of SBD spent on promotion
- this mean, that if @fknmayhem would spend 50SBD on promotion, and @steevc would spend 100 SBD on promotion, then article of @steevc will appear twice as often on trending page as article of @fknmayhem
- even with spending just 1 SBD you will have a chance to be displayed on trending page. If you will have some luck and your content will be good, some whale will vote for you!

What are your opinion about those topics? I am really curious about your opinion about potential solutions for votes buying? Do you like my idea with promoted contend mixed with other stuff on trending?
What in your opinion Steemit should be? A blogging platform, a generic blockchain explorer... or maybe something totally different. Please tell me what do you think about that! :)
