The Steem is Falling, The Steem is Falling..... Fck Chicken Little!

I started to write this post about a week or two ago, truth be told I was in a much more positive mood about steemit.

A Reminder.

I'm starting again because I need to take the time to remind myself exactly why I was positive about Steemit because honestly, I got weak seeing a post I worked on sit at $0.48 for two days I actually sent funds to a goddam bid bot WTF! which is something I haven't done since my first month here on steemit.

I am not a social media kind of person, I'm mean I have the Faceblaag but it's barely used, I'm the kind of guy that can have 150 unread messages, even text messages can go unread and unanswered for way too long, so its a little surprising to find myself here on Steemit where I find myself caring about people I have never meet, to find myself with an amazing team of people including my wife running Steem discord channel for the @asapers a curation effort focused on giving back to the steemit community as soon as possible but here I am.

Lucky.

I feel like I joined Steemit at a great time sure, not early enough to have become a whale, or orca, dolphin, it's clear to all that I'm not even a minnow yet, but in those early days I was lucky enough to stumble across some great Stemians like @hitmeasap, @taskmaster4450, and @wwf who's articles gave me a greater insight into what this place was and what it might become, unsurprisingly all three where @stewardsofgondor.

From the start, my #introduceyourself post did pretty well in part because of the support of the awesome @gogogadgetupvote who taught me that Steemit might be worth the effort, not five posts later @ocd-resteem supported a tutorial I wrote people where upvoting and actually commenting , now I knew for a fact that I should put in the effort.

Steemit made a dream come true.

Ok, that sounds cheesy as hell but its true, some years ago my wife and I came across the concept of actually writing down 100 dreams, literally 100, she was much better at this than I was hitting 76 out of the hundred where was my list something like this.

  • 15% Body Fat - [X] (hard work and exercise)
  • Read Bible front to back - [ ] (not because I'm religious but because it's an important book to understand my culture)
  • Finish Marshal the Marshmallow (an animation series I still need to finish)
  • Write A-Z a Journey Through the Alphabet. [Inprogress]

It's that last one on my list that Steemit has helped come true in the form of my series called Alphabet Adventures, I honestly never in a million year thought that anyone would actually be interested in reading about words, their definitions, their origins, and my on their true meaning. let alone pay me for my efforts in writing about them and yet to date those articles have netted me 212 stu and for me, that's a dream I never thought that I would be realized. (Granted 85% of that came from a currie at a time when the Steem price was sky-high.)

Community

By virtue of where I was born, I was also lucky enough to become a member of @teamaustralia and get my dole vote from @centerlink and @ausbitbank now that's how you support your community.

On top of that, I connected with @thesteemengine filled with amazing and dedicated Steemians supporting content and community, I was finding out that Steemit was filled with pay it for forward, altruistically minded people and ultimately connected properly with @hitmeasap who's generous no strings attached delegations two six Steemians actually lead to the @insideoutlet and I building and running the @asapers community (thanks @steemengine for the inspiration).

I don't know if I never saw them before we made our community or if as time goes on more and more groups grow to support new Steemians and improve the onboarding process but there are so many of us now there is the @welcomewagon, @newbiegames, @newbieresteemday, @pifc, @greetersguild, the list goes on and on. How bloody lucky are we.

The Steem has Fallen.

No, really I don't give a crap, I need to remind myself that in that early excitement of joining stem I was happy to see a post get even $0.20 and that the largest part of why I enjoy Steemit is that it provides me with a prompt, that tiny extra push that my lazy arse needs in order to get anything done, that I really enjoy the process of researching and learning for the posts that I write.

I have more interaction here with amazing people than I do with many of my Faceblaag "friends" Steemit freaking rocks much of what we do here would not happen without the generosity of others, I know that the @asapers would never have made it without @hitmeasaps continued support, or without the support of other amazing people like @lynncoyle1, @vikingventures, @mirrors, who donate their time free of charge, the amazing content creators on the platform, and our awesome delegators.

Steemit Freaking Rocks.

Full stop, the end, forget the Steem rewards and remember the intangible ones.

Kind regards

Peter
