Check out SteemData for some cool charts of Steemit activity. Everything went crazy yesterday. Mind you, half the posts are probably about the Steem price that hit $1.30 overnight on record trading. It's settle down a little for now, but it's sure to have gotten some attention. This rise does feel like too much, too soon as we don't yet have the growth in users we need to justify that sort of rise. Hundreds more have been added in the last couple of days and they are adding to the activity. Visitors are up too.
It feels like Steemit is approaching a tipping point. What's missing is prominent media coverage. I check for news items in Google, but am not seeing anything much in the last week. We may see a previous of Steemit communities soon, but there's also an intriguing comment by @sneak on this post about invitations and referrals changes. The post was about allowing users to sponsor new accounts. That's a cool idea and it would aid recruitment whilst not draining the main accounts.
We have more influential people joining up now. I hope they will take some time to assess what is on offer before spreading the word to their followers on other networks. Steemit may not be quite ready for millions of new users, but it's starting to look like a more serious player that's worthy of attention.
