My friend @rebeccabe wants to set her profile avatar, but you still need somewhere to host that image for you. Some of the options people used previously are no longer available. Even Dropbox seem to have made it harder (impossible?) to do.
I'm using Keybase who offer free storage, but it may be a bit technical for some. The site is primarily about verifying your identity using cryptography and allowing you to send encrypted messages. If you want to use it I have some invitations.
I did use Dropbox before and have used Google Photos. I can still right click an image there to get a very long URL that does work in Steemit posts. Not sure if it would work for the profile pic.
