Every Child has a dream of what and who to become when he or she grows up to be a responsible adult and it is the duty of the parent to help realise that dream. As a kid, i have always wanted to be in the Army and be an Engineer, i am an adult now and i became an Engineer but a non-practising one;i mean i practised but not for long. Not that i don't like my dream but because i found myself in a very messy socioeconomical and politically deranged region which strangles my dreams and that of millions from becoming a reality.
For this reasons, millions of youth have no guaranteed future and the only possible way out is to emigrate to a more sane and organized country overseas where at least dream actualization stands a chance without being "choked with hopelessness and low sense of purpose." Some of the reasons why dreams are not fully actualized in several developing countries of the World I have illustrated below using the situation in my country as a yardstick.
BAD GOVERNANCE
It is a pitiable situation whereby the dreams of youths are shattered by bad Governance and irresponsible lawmakers whose children are in foreign land hence no good policies are passed into the bill to secure the future of the average citizen. Some college students spend 8 to 10 years in college before graduation just as a result of bad Educational policies which made academic strikes a last some over a year and some months non-stop at a stretch. Imagine a college student in his/her finals who spent a year and few months out of school due to this incessant strikes. What kind of mentality and moral could such person bring into the labor market? Will he or she not succumb to any job that comes his/her way to earn a living even if it's out of the profession?
LACK OF STUDENTS LOANS COUPLED WITH INFLATED TUTION FEES
Education is expensive, therefore not everyone could afford to go to the college. But in developed nations adequate funding is provided for students to scale this problem, but the situation is bizarre in my home country; the Government has no provision for student loans yet college tuition fees could spike from 0 to multiples of 10 without any reason. How would a government worker afford such fees as a parent or sponsors whose minimum wage has not been reviewed in a decade? This has produced hundreds of thousands of dropouts and sadly these were dreamers and intelligent once who could use their skills to develop the nation but their dreams of becoming something has been truncated.
BRAINDRAIN- THE MASS ESCAPE OF INTELLECTS
Mass escape of Scholars and intellectuals is another like it, the ones that struggled to get a fair share of decent education emigrate to foreign countries taking along with them all forms of professionalism and technicality needed to develop a country as the escape overseas. Rarely do foreign experts comes to train and develop locals, the few local experts are not encouraged by the country not aid or foster them in their moments of needs hence they all abandoned the country. A critical matter; and not an issue of "Unpatriotic but a matter of making every opportunity counts".
HOPING THE BLOCKCHAIN REALIGN MANY DREAMS
Hopefully the Blockchain with its disruptive nature could bring back every dead dream alive and help smoothen and remold the future dreams and aspirations of the next Generation to come.It starts with us; the Experimental specimens for the Disruptive power of the Blockchain Technology.
