Wind is one of the Most Abundant Natural Elements on Earth after Water and Sunshine, hence wind energy is in affluence just like it's counterparts Solar and Hydro Energy. It has become a legit source of energy over decades since the days of Windmills and over the years since much more advance Wind Turbines have been produced and used which boosted the Industry record to $99.5 Billion investment Globally in the year 2014.

Challenges to Traditional Wind Turbines

A very huge challenge to this Technology is the Transportation of it's enormous components(Turbines/Blades, Generators, Gearbox) and the colossal towers to installation sites, this are about 100 Tons components high up 100 meters in the sky- extremely heavy to lift and requiring special trucks for the transporting process on narrow roads.

Cost of maintenance of this Gigantic components and various accidents/mishaps that had claimed lot of Engineers, Technicians and commuters had cut the efficiency benefits of this traditional wind Turbines.

"VORTEX"

Finally a blade-less wind Turbine has been designed to tackle most of this disadvantages, it will not kill birds, nor any human falling off the huge pylons neither would it require Thousands of Dollars to manufacture and Transport.

Principle Of Operation:

The invention is called "Vortex" with various capacities in development stage(4 Kilo Watts, 100 Watts and a Mega Watts) now and it is designed to generate Electricity by Oscillating in the Wind. Vibration or Vorticity; Spinning motion of air or other fluids is the mode of it's operations. When air/wind passes the cylindrical turbines, it shears off the down-wind side of the cylinder in a s spinning whirl pool or Vortex, which then exerts forces on the cylinder making it vibrate.
Kinetic energy of this oscillating cylinder is converted to electricity through a linear generator similar to those used to harness wave energy. This is a noiseless processes as there is no moving parts and this will significantly reduce manufacturing and maintenance needs hence improving costs and efficiency.

If you have a common propeller-type wind turbine, you have a big area swept by blades. But with Vortex Bladeless; you just have a pole and many of it in a limited space- Martin Hansen; A wind Energy specialist at the Technical University Denmark.

A brain work of a Spanish Technology Startup "VortexBladeless" which aims at generating power 40% less than the cost of Energy from Traditional(conventional) wind turbines. A promising venture with a whole lot of skeptics and the company's plan to release a much larger Megawatt Device in 2018 to counter any skepticism.
