I have noticed lots of posts here using the 'aceh' tag. I wondered what it was and so have been doing some research. I'm using the Wikipedia page, so I hope it's accurate.
Aceh is a 'special region' of Indonesia. The population of around five million is mostly muslim. They suffered massive loss of life in the 2004 tsunami. I expect they are still recovering from that.

With average incomes of around $2000 per year Steemit could make a real difference to lives there. A few hundred dollars will mean much more than in the US or Europe. It's great to see an active community building here. I don't know what sort of internet access people have, but I expect a lot of it is mobile as that is how the next wave of users have gotten on-line. Steemit needs to have a good mobile experience to make it accessible to them.
The posts I have seen have mostly been in English, but I think Steemit can embrace all languages and cultures. It would be great to see the site translated. That could be a community effort with Steem rewards for contributions. Has anyone been working on that?
I've already made friends all over the world on Steemit and other services. That's one of the greatest things about the internet. Everyone should be equal in the digital world.
