Taksim
Mosque under construction on the Taksim square.
Republic monument on the Taksim square, dedicated to the formation of the Turkish Republic.
One great thing about Istanbul is that the public transportation is well marked and you can get most of the information you need when it comes to the metro/bus stops and stuff like that. It is also very helpful because people don't really speak English (at least from our experience when we tried to ask for help or information) so with all the signs and arrows and maybe some Google maps help, you should be fine.
Kitchenette Cafe & Restaurant
After some delicious food from the Simit Sarayi bakery, that I highly recommend, we went to Kitchenette cafe & restaurant, both places located on Taksim.
I had a nice cafe latte. This was also our first coffee of the day which is kind of crazy since it was around 7pm! :D
We stayed there for a while because we still had time until meeting with Maja's friend.
Dinner at Babel
When we met with Leon, we went on a little walk, looking for a place where we could sit down and have some food. We found this really nice, cool looking place called Babel and people working here actually spoke English which was lovely!
Food was great! Maybe it doesn't look like a lot for 3 of us but we were full and didn't even finish everything!
Selfie with a waiter! Leon was Maja's neighbor in Novi Sad for a couple of years, he doesn't live in Serbia anymore but happened to be in Istanbul same time as we were there, so we all met up. After dinner, we went to a bar to grab a beer. Since we all were quite tired and it was raining, we called it the end of the night and went to get some sleep.
Cool umberellas that I've seen on many pictures from different cities, but I think it's my first time seeing this in person.
That was our last full day in Istanbul. It wasn't eventful as the previous two but we still enjoyed it. Tomorrow will be the last post of this travel diary that I hope you like. Have an amazing weekend! :)
