Hello, my dearest friends! Throughout our history, temples have been an integral part of the urban landscape, and many of them have become symbols of not only performed ritual functions. Unlike other religious buildings, cathedrals were built with a special grandeur, interesting and unusual architecture.
Today I will show the most majestic Cathedral of Krasnodar, which is the main temple of the diocese and is considered an architectural monument of the Kuban.
The decision to build it was made in 1889, exactly one year after the crash of the Royal train, in which the members of the Royal family miraculously survived.
The construction of the temple lasted for almost 15 years, but the congregation saw the majestic building talented local architect Ivan Climentieevita Malherba.
In the years after the October revolution, the Cathedral almost blew up, and some wanted to disassemble it brick by brick. There were times when the walls of the Cathedral were warehouses, stored military equipment, paints and varnishes. And only in 1944, after the liberation of Krasnodar from Nazi invaders, services resumed here.
To celebrate the Millennium of the Baptism of Rus in St. Catherine's Cathedral carried out restoration work, today it looks even more beautiful and majestic, and its main dome was covered with real gold leaf.
On the territory of the temple complex everywhere flowers, flower beds, planted various trees.
Opposite the main entrance and built a small waterfall.
The interior of the Cathedral is certainly impressive. All the walls are painted by famous icon painters.
In some places the painting has been preserved since the 20s of the last century. Here you can see the work of the artist Ivan Sidorovich Izhakevich and other talented masters of religious painting.
Each icon is a real work of art. There were few people during the day and I managed to photograph almost all the unique shrines.
Even this painted ceiling, many is a natural admiration.
St. Catherine's Cathedral is very high. Krasnodar residents call it "Red Cathedral", because it is all built of bright red brick, and beautiful unusually.
Many walls of the temple are wrapped with thick branches.
In 1990, 7 new bells made by Voronezh masters were raised. And two years later brought here m famous 1.5-ton bell "Blagovest".
I liked the Windows that immediately attract attention. Over them made such original, like arched eyebrows, and around the perimeter is beautiful patterned eaves with ornamental corbels.
Built this Cathedral in the Russian-Byzantine style, it has 5 squat domes, one of which is in the center, and four smaller located in the corners.
